Irrespective of what "accusations" have been thrown at them, they haven't been found guilty of anything. Moreover, there are major concerns over the driving force behind the ICJ, but that's another discussion together. The intent is clear. The license to hold events is decided upon the local authority, so it is quite easy to envisage a situation where the event is stopped from going ahead, or has stricter controls on who plays. It would be good if cctv was adequate such that all those joining in could be arrested. Get nicked at a football ground for far less. Ten tier Keir. Course you do. 'Ten Tier Kier' 'Multi Tier' You're coming out with some absolute belters today. As if this is somehow Kier Starmer's fault. It is absolutely up to venues and (to an extent) local authorities to prevent these events. Transmit did exactly that for Kneecap. But many venues will host them and that is their right as well. Whether you or I think it is a 'call to murder' is irrelevant. It would still be open to interpretation in court. People have called for death to occupying forces throughout history. South Africans during apartheid; the Irish fighting for independence did during the early 20th century; those fighting the Nazis did. Even the Ukrainians will have been calling for death to Russian military. This is a military organisation denying a nation of its sovereignty; blocking civilian aid and ethnically cleansing an entire population. Rightly or wrongly, folk will say nasty things about them and will defend their right to do so - good look arguing otherwise in a court of law against BV and a few hundred festival attendees. And good look getting them all arrested Comment of the day that last one pal. Quote

Media outlets can chose what they publish and who they interview. But you are going to struggle legally to prosecute and revoke a licence for artists like this. It would open a whole can of worms elsewhere and across the political spectrum on both sides. Quote
Cheese Posted June 29, 2025 Posted June 29, 2025 What Bob Vylan said is disgusting, but these things are bound to happen when children are being mass-murdered by one of our allies. Quote
Popular Post Zico Posted June 29, 2025 Popular Post Posted June 29, 2025 I don't think what Bob Vylan said was disgusting and I don't particularly care what they think, it's what artists do, so what I think what the IDF are doing is disgusting Same folk got upset when Stormzy spoke up for Grenfell victims at the Brits Quote
frank_spencer Posted June 29, 2025 Posted June 29, 2025 Had he said death to Israel/Israelis then I could understand the outcry, the IDF is just as much of a bunch of cunts as Hamas. Quote

No nuance allowed I'm afraid. You should know that by now. You either support the IDF killing children, or you're anti-Semitic. Nothing inbetween. Quote

On the disgustometer this is waaaaaaay down the list. I just can't imagine watching the news from the last few months and remaining largely non-plussed (or in some cases fully supportive) but then becoming apoplectic with rage about someone shouting something admittedly ridiculous at a music festival Quote

Especially given recent events. Still it's pretty much small fry in the actual big scheme of things. Did anybody watch Kneecap btw and where they any good? I always imagined them to be like an Irish version of Goldie Looking Chain. Quote

Get with the program. It's still a bad look for the festival IMO. And the crowd who were watching them. Make a speech by all means - but this just feels like manufactured controversy to me to get their names in the papers. And it's definitely worked! 😁 I've less sympathy with the dead kids to be fair. They've only got themselves to blame if they take refuge in a building that Hamas might be hiding in. Quote

Aye. Was thinking the same. There's quite a difference between calling for the death of the IDF as an organisation and the the death of Israelis/Jews. And it genuinely looks like some posters on here have interpreted it as the same.. Fwiw the IDF have a lot of people forced to be a part of it. And there are plenty in there who don't agree with everything they do, which is why BV's comments are naïve. Fair play to the IDF whistle blowers who leaked the story about them being given orders to deliberately shoot unarmed civilians during aid distribution. The IDF's war crimes investigation list must now be a 100 times the size of Hamas'. No idea what folk are so rattled about with this one. So far today we've had calls that they should never play on a stage again; that people in the crowd should be arrested; that they should go to prison and that the Glastonbury organisers should get a knock 🙈 Bonkers.
