If not true, then he's using it as an excuse for even worse behaviour. Therein lies the lesson about using AI at work. You've still got to know what you are talking about as it will sometimes make things up (or hallucinate) ideas that sound plausible if it doesn't know the answer to something. If he's banned these fans on the strength of an AI telling him about a match which never took place (and he obviously didn't bother looking into - which would have been step 1 for me) then he's not competent and needs binning. Of he's lied about intelligence from the Dutch Police then he wants prosecuting if there's anything he can actually be prosecuted for! If true he's not done anyone any favours. Least of all those of us who still have some faith left in the police. Quote

I think it was some volunteers in a "round britain" charity event in the end. The fact he thought a dinghy could make a trip from mainland Europe to Yarmouth is amazing A big mistake on his part. If an mp is to be strongly criticised for a mistake then there are around 650 bell ends in parliament. Why not the same level of vitriol towards others? Quote

Least of all those of us who still have some faith left in the police. Aye, he's made a massive rod for his own back. His record on crime etc since taking office is apparently exemplory- pulled his force up by its bootstraps. Why then make such a terrible level of judgement?Just like his addressing Muslims in arabic- another error of judgement. I don't get it one bit, unless he's another one "captured", like so many. Seems a shame- a big stain on his career. Quote
kent_white Posted January 14 Posted January 14 No confidence across the house or from Mahmood. He's toast. And apparently had already said AI wasn't used in the process. So he's misled an inquiry too! Quote

During our recent discussion about the political event, I got it completely wrong. Worse than that, I stubbornly refused to accept it, and in doing so I dismissed not only the facts but your patience, insight, and good humour. For that, I am truly sorry. I also owe you a specific apology for refusing the clown 🤡 badges you so rightly tried to issue during the argument. In hindsight, they were more than deserved. I now accept those badges of shame fully and without reservation — and, in the spirit of accountability, I will also accept three bonus ones 🤡🤡🤡. I regret the error of my ways, both in my understanding and in my conduct. I respect you, your approach, and the way you handled the situation far better than I did. This letter is not written lightly — I really am so, so sorry. I wish you all the very best, and I hope you’ll accept this apology in the spirit it’s meant: sincere, reflective, and a little humbler than before. Kind regards, London White Quote

Iirc, he doesn't take his mps salary neither, but donates it to charity. OK, not all mps are financially able to do that, but he could keep it anyway. Or is he a bell for not sharing your ideals? It’s a shame his commitment to his constituency isn’t as strong as his commitment to Twitter. Quote

Spider Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Well done Shabana Mahmood. Its a shame the Tories stopped Home Secretaries from having the power to sack chief constables but it appears she and Starmer are working to rectify that. A good days work by the government think we can all agree Quote

But I said from the start of all this it was the wrong decision to ban them. I just had no sympathy with the fans and know it would have been a tense one to give the go ahead. I don’t need to apologise for an incompetent police chief telling lies & using AI for his report. Pro Palestine protesters , radical Islamists & some footy hooligans. It’s a tinderbox. The police should have just been honest if they were going to ban fans. Will you be apologising for the time you told us a protest of 150, 000 people was “millions” ? 😉 Quote

It's incredible that this is still in the news really Quote
