My gaffers' elderly mother was transferred from her care home to hospital a couple of weeks ago because she'd stopped eating due to her dementia. She contracted Covid last week, and when I spoke to him this morning, he'd been told she was on oxygen and only had a matter of hours to live. Horrible.

Same as arresting the mum and granddaughter for springing granny out of her old folks home, I'm no fighter but it would only have happened to me over my dead body.

I had a lot of sympathy for both sides in that one. The family obviously want what is best for their mum. But they had given the care home legal responsibility for looking after the mother. They can not just then turn up and say ‘we are taking her away’.

We had to virtually break our Mum out of a care home back in April

I would do it again a million times over because this meant she didn't die alone surrounded by strangers.

It's bad enough that funerals are still the bleakest experience imaginable, and that we still haven't been able to have any kind of gathering/service for her 6 months on.

But to have her die alone with strangers would have been too much to handle.

Arresting anyone for this  is deplorable

So minister, mass testing in Liverpool

How many people is that?

Erm, erm, erm....

I am not playing down the impact on the family. But the care home are in an impossible position.

My mum and dad both died of dementia

not directly but you get the idea

my dad spent the last 12 months of his life under a DOLs order

Look it up, he was basically imprisoned in a nursing home

my mum had a relatively easy end but as she had COPD it wasn't an easy exit

they'd both have chosen COVID 12 months before they went

Very sceptical you are Mick 😁

Moi? 😀

A rapid coronavirus test at the heart of Boris Johnson’s mass-testing strategy missed more than 50% of positive cases in an Operation Moonshot pilot in Greater Manchester, the Guardian can reveal.

The 20-minute tests, on which the government has spent £323m for use with hospital and care home staff with no symptoms, identified only 46.7% of infections during a crucial trial in Manchester and Salford last month.
