Port Vale (A)

Hoping this will be my first away of the season if I can get tickets, but away capacity is less than it used to be.  We'll be in the Bycars End, the Hamil Road now occupied by Vale fans.

Not sure what capacity of Bycars is but less than Hamil Rd so not likely to be enough to satisfy demand.

£25 in home end for this game so presume same for us.

Well I was pleasantly surprised, really enjoyable atmosphere, very positive, and more evidence of normal folk than anything unsavoury.  For the record, I never suggested we had more knobheads than oth

Portsmouth have still sold 1500 for Wigan - train strike or not.

for a local game I am surprised and we haven’t got the larger end either.

Nothing special that.

Made me smile that.

How the fuck would you know anything about a “normal person”?

Lunatic.

You think Laurence Fox is "funny as fuck", and you instinctively slag off everyone and everything to do with the football club you 'support'. I reckon that's pretty abnormal behaviour.

Train strike is a poor excuse like I’ve said before loads of options if you look about

looks like it will be just shy of selling out, our away sales this season have been slow sellers so far perhaps folk are feeling the pinch

I'm in as a late decision. As are a few I know who were picking Barnsley over this one. There'd be plenty moaning about away day priority sales if it had sold out in a few hours and a few dipped out.

Best of both worlds I'd say, the not quite selling out, option for those who get the urge to go to make that call today.

Dacres-Cogley is also unavailable apparently

His wife's about to give birth

Thought I'd read she had given birth Tuesday but was still in hospital. Still a doubt though I guess.

Just tell Mathison we're playing Man Utd, he'll have a stormer and score

If the wife and baby ok why not play, worlds gone mad.

Small word, big meaning.

Still in hospital and he has been given time so unlikely to play

'What worries about me for this game is that Bolton have 2 strikers that if we give them a chance they will take it.'

Interesting take from someone on Vale ways🤔

Or "what pleases me about this game is we just need to stop 1 player (Charles) and the other players can't hit a barn door away from home" 😆  Concerning that our "top scorers" in the last 6 months away, have Shoretire joint 2nd.

I'm making a rare appearance for this one, but I've heard a few saying they don't fancy getting involved in the "atmosphere" that our fans can create when its a big following at a smallish ground.  Put another way will the knob heads outnumber the other fans and will it be an enjoyable day?  I've not done a local away for a while so only going off anecdotes but I wonder if a few have tired of it a bit, in fact I know a few have, its just a question of how many and if that's a reason for not selling out.

After our first 11 games (7 at home!!) we have got to be getting 20 points minimum.

Anything less is a disappointing start given the home bias.

That means getting at least 6 points from the next 3 games.

1-1 tomorrow for me.

We have no more “knob heads” than any other club contrary to popular belief.

They have a fair few, it’s a big game for them & subsequently PV away can be tasty.

If we win it will be enjoyable and if we lose it won’t be.

We haven’t sold out because of a mixture of our recent poor form and the train strike although it’s a fair trek to the station.

Is thee a pre-match exclusion zone this year ?

3000 is very similar to last seasons following and we struggled to sell out the day we could have won promotion, think we had around 3800 that day.

3k is par for the course. No idea what to expect result wise

Newcastle under Lyme.....

I hope JDC is back today, he’d be a big miss if not under the present circumstances. We can all understand that family come first so let’s hope his wife and new little one are home and well and he can get back to his day job. If not though, who replaces him? Will IE trust Matheson or will it be Ashworth turn, or will he play Ashworth on the left and switch Randell to the right where he’s played often? I’m not a big fan of making multiple moves for one absence so I’d stick with Matheson who actually is a couple of years older than Zac and arguably more experienced. I think it’s time he got his shot, especially after Tuesday.

Vale fans seem very confident of a win

Think Forrester has a mistake in him

Think this is a "proper game"

Love our big away following.

Say they have a super athletic, non-stop team this season.

This part worries me

We don’t look the fittest team in this league.

Still fancy us to edge it though,

It's the "non-stop running" bit - we need to pass them into submission to wear the buggers out today so we'll have to be on our game as well as having fresh legs off the bench.

Don't want Evatt having to trot out "some of our players looked tired" crap again after this one.

Players being tired is an excuse that doesn’t wash with me at this stage of a season.

These are athletes whose only job is to be fit and kick a ball about.

Last month of the season, fair enough, but not the end of September.
