West Ham's support has changed markedly, a few years back, they were largely from rough, east end areas of London but now they seem to mostly be Essex gobshites..........& that wanky crossed arms thing they do now, the old school lot didn't do that.

that's because they all moved out the east end into essex and all the ethnic minorities moved into the east end to replace them

got to say though, I think Forest are argubaly bigger than West Ham - certainly in honours - top flight presence is about the same, whislt West Ham do them on crowds, but only since they moved to the new ground

If you look at KUMB, posts suggest half the crowd are tourists. Literally tourists.

QPR are a local team for local people - used to live a few miles away in Acton. Chelsea fans came in from miles away - not surprising considering their location as most Fulham Road occupants who went there were rich and did it the rich way. The standard fans travelled in. And then in not necessarily great numbers. Wasn't there 17k or summat on to witness Sasa's wonder goal against them?

Think we are in the most populated with football club area in world football.

Aye, in addition to the 19 mentioned Barrow are also in the old Lancashire boundary and Southport were in the third tier for 72-73 after promotion in a year that saw NW teams win all 4 divisions (them, us, Burnley and Liverpool).

The combined size of Leicestershire, Notts and Derbyshire equaled that of Lancashire. But all they've had post war is Leics, Forest and Derby as major players, County a level down and then Chesterfield and Mansfield as also rans.

Leicester you say..... :)

Level pegging prior to them winning the PL and FA cup

They did alright in the league cup in the 90s mind, 3 finals and 2 wins in 4 seasons

Are they though?

In the grand scheme of things?

For me it’s about the now not what a club won 100 years ago etc

Ipswich & Leicester away support has been phenomenal for years we could only dream of taking some of their numbers

these are the types of clubs who wouldn’t not sell out for semi finals & finals, brum are a funny one but when it matters can turn out with the best

Considering where we've been and where we are I reckon our numbers in past 10 years stack up to most.

Better numbers than latter stages of Prem.

Reckon folk will view us as pretty decent.

The whole getup of London clubs and where their fans come from etc is just beyond me. Especially when we’ve had a few away games in recent months where Midlands stations have been mobbed with Arsenal and Spurs fans. Coming back from Luton and there was a train rammed with West Ham fans coming out of St Pancras that didn’t have its first stop until somewhere daft like Grantham.

The crowd factor has been massively swayed by massive population increase with massive wealth increase in the south east and London in particular. There's just loads of people there with a lot of disposable income to watch football, any football, doesn't matter who.

I've sat in the "neutral stand" at Fulham before. Absolutely packed with people just looking for something to do on a Saturday.

Doesn't make those clubs massive now, but over time these massive crowds will slowly filter through to more money and better chances of being in the premier league and winning stuff, and therefore being massive in this debate in 30 years time.

We're fighting a losing battle on demographics and wealth.

yeah, did think about Ajax, they'd be on that list, but probably 8th

PSG are nowhere near, they have done fuck all in Europe, 1 CWC back in the 90s

they've a lot of catching up to do to get near any of those teams

domestically, they've won 11 titles, 9 of those have come since 2012/13 after the money started rolling in
