When Rioch came to Bolton in 1992 we won three of our first give games then drew 1 and lost 5 of the next six. A very similar thing happened when Big Sam arrived in 1999. It is very early days and SS

For those slagging off SS, you are barking up the wrong tree. We can only even get in to the foothills of judging the guy after he has had a transfer window. He has been dealt a talented but very one-

He may have a point, but we're still above them in the table.

Just like the Wigan mon did, hopefully this will be sufficient a spur for when we play them next.

I think, except Birmingham, most team in our league take GT

You’re not going to be surprised at this… but you’ve got to be kidding?

They might take him to be a back up option, but he is one of the fundamental reasons that we continue to underperform. He’s a great character, no doubt about it, but he is outplayed by so many midfields (including the team in 12th today). Morley has proved he can play centre mid for the team at the top of the league, Sheehan is playing centre mid on the international stage, GT turned down a move and became the L1 Gerrard in people’s eyes. If we start with him in centre mid next season then we aren’t getting promoted.

Just back speechless Santos and Sheehan can fuck off had enough of them both !

People said last week Santos would never play for club again. I said that was wrong.

As far back as last pre season, I said Morley would go out on loan before he did.

I’m no sidekick, and I’ll never share more than I know. I know some senior people (nobody on the board).

Ive no issue with you or anyone else being cynical about my info, but I only ever share info that’s come from good sources.

As for how much, I don’t know. But SS was a sought after manager and came because funds were to be made available.

He was on the pitch but didn't play today :D  not just him obvs

The last summer transfer window was an absolute shambles. Last season, we basically finished fourth, had a big transfer budget and have been well overtaken this year by two teams coming up from League 2, so the problem has been the board believing in Evatt s big plan which has imploded significantly.

Having to return Santos, having then to move others around to fit "our best defender" in.

He's now a disruption.

I understand he's signed a contract to play abroad next season.

Bye.

I hope you are right but remember SS first interview and he said as soon as the job came up he told is agent he wanted the job that  was before he spoke to the board .
Funds being available could be we have the 3rd highest wage bill wheel and deal with that

Evatt was right. Piss weak minded players. Thing is was it was him that signed them and screwed us.

Bullshit. Markham was in charge of recruitment.

Markham was Sporting Director. He scouted the players, negotiated the deals and signed the contracts.

But you are correct in saying Evatt was right in his assessment of the players he was landed with.

this set of players have to many battle scars

clear out needed

another 3 years + in this league yet

I know you’re not daft. Sometimes managers and players say what the fans want to hear.

SS would have wanted the job. But of course he wouldn’t accept it until his ‘package’ was agreed. This would have included assurances about transfer budget.

Yeah, but he signed them all 🤷🏻‍♂️

No he didn’t.

He managed what he was given.

So Evatt didn't have any say about the players Markham scouted?

I said Santos woudnt play again, he wouldnt if Toal and Forrester wasnt fit, and today was an example why he shouldnt. As i said, would be great if SS as been given money to spend, recruitment is massive for this coming season.

Wrong

As I understand it, Evatt would ask Markham for a player in a certain position and Markham would go off and press some buttons on his analysis machine, make a couple of calls then come back and tell Evatt who he was getting.

Hopefully he can get the same backing evatt got at least . But balancing the wage bill is going to be the problem over paid  players not wanting a backward move

…or a forward move if recent performances are anything to go by.

Pretty sure if evatt had not bought any of them he would have said to save is reputation we had him blaming the players earlier this season and the fans at one point . Marc iles said on a podcast that he thought markham was getting undue stick for the transfers when he left the club

August seems a long long way away :(
