gonzo Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 VAR been sound all tournament. Had to be English to ruin it. Longest check in the whole thing. Quote
deeane Koontz Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 In the Keepers way of diving in that direction. Got it right for me. Should have got out the road Quote

masi 51 Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 As stated if the keeper had made a attempt i could understand, but he was rooted and never made a attempt The goal should have stood Quote
Dr. Feelgood Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Thia is up there with our match yesterday as a heap of dull shite. Quote

Alf Hartigan Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 It’s a 50/50 decision and I can see both arguments. Need to cut all this time out waiting for a decision. I’d save VAR for the clear cut stuff if we have to keep with it. Seems the English are struggling more than most with it Quote

Dr Faustus Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Right decision- as soon as he looks to set, striker is in his peripheral vision and impedes his decision. Would he have saved it? That’s not up to the ref to decide Maignan appealed instantly. Shouldn’t have taken that long to confirm Quote

The length of check is the big issue for me. I hate VAR for all these delays. It was clear and obvious that this wasn't a clear and obvious decision after 1 viewing, therefore move on and stick with the onfield decision. Which I think was offside (although the review was so long I can't really remember) Quote

The Euros have been fantastic, the colour, atmosphere and positive attitude of fans and players generally. I've also enjoyed every bit of the US Open golf, Royal Ascot (costly mind), Yorks v Lancs T20 (poor performance but decent spectacle), England's T20 WC games and a bit of Queens tennis (I love the majors but the lesser tournaments are a bit irrelevant; not long till Wimbledon though). Of all the players and teams across a range of great sports, Southgate and England seem the least tuned in, up for it, entertaining, vibrant. Its like they are playing unenthusiastically with brakes on where everyone else is accelerating along in the fast lane. But they aren't going to stop me enjoying the rest of the tournament and other sports! The Euros and World Cup are great fun irrespective of what England are doing. While it would be nice for us to win, I don't really care like I do with Bolton. So it's all just about enjoying the matches whoever's playing. And tbh I'm looking forward to watching Georgia today more than England on Tuesday. Quote

Other than Stones, TTA and Guehi, Carvajal has played less games this season than the rest of the England starting team the other night. He's actually only played 41 club games which is quite low. I do get the point though, none of them should be tired, that's a piss poor excuse Quote
gonzo Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Good point raised about lack of leaders and big game players being missing. Henderson and Maguire are big characters missing and Grealish and Rashford have played at the biggest of biggest stages. There's only Kyle Walker I'd consider a leader. Quote

I am impressed though sir. My new statistician who will put in the hard yards in the hope of proving me incorrect I'll ponder my next task for you and get back. Quote
