What an utter moron Wish our board would get a move on. Just wasting our season the more chances we give him. It’s awful the abuse Evatt and his son received. But to talk about crossing line

  • I’m being deliberately harsh here, but: 2 points or not, there are 12 teams ahead of us in the league and a play off spot is not the aim. We’ve won 3 on the spin, against Reading, Crawley an

Obviously, he shouldn't have done it, but at the same time, it's a still photograph. They never tell the whole story.

There's video footage. He pushes the lad away from him then puts his head in towards him (lad does look to be grinning at him so must have wound him up), a couple of feet from the ref

Aye, just seen it.

Intrigued to know what he actually said to Evatt initially though, as IE really lost it for a minute.

Got his deserved red.

Onto the next game.

IE’s behaviour was as embarrassment.

He makes himself look tinpot and unprofessional.

A bit like a teacher attacking a schoolkid.

Does he fuck he looks like a manager defending his players.

He has over stepped the mark  and should know better . But that is life.

Most of it’s been said, first half was poor - really passive, no intensity (shock), same old mistakes at the back and the perfect way to give a team with no confidence something to believe in.

Second half we were brilliant, but let’s also remember that we were playing 23rd in the league (won 1 in 15) at home - we should look far superior.

If Collins’ chance goes in at the end then we all breathe a sigh of relief, momentum continues and we move on. It didn’t though, and would have somewhat papered over cracks. We’ve now got 5 points from 5 home games, conceding 10 - the worst home defensive record in the league!! We’ve played 3 teams that will be right down the bottom, one newly promoted and one that has been turned over time and time again since playing us, it’s hardly the toughest of starts and is far from what’s required to get promoted.

How many times this season have we had to witness horrendous defending already? First goal was a shocker to concede. They managed 3 shots straight from a corner. Their second is on evatt and the players.

The lack of leadership and balls in the team has been a problem for years now and it’s still unresolved. After the first goal someone should have just gone and picked up their player on the edge of the box, regardless of what they’ve been told before the game.

The second half was much much better. Dempsey man of the match by a long way, Williams cameo was also impressive. He has to come in for Schon whose goal dressed over another poor performance.

We’re still making the same mistakes we were making last year and the year before. It’s a shame but Evatt simply isn’t learning. He’s surrounded himself by yes men, clearly so he doesn’t do what he did today with their ginger lad today.

Williams for Schön… not buying that for a minute.

Certainly not quite right at home; maybe opposition managers have all spotted the bet way of nullifying us.

That's down to the staff and players to sort out.

Not sure the position of the opposition is the biggest concern, more that we're not so tight at the back, and maybe a bit predictable.

No team is running away with the league, and there is plenty of time.

Whether they can improve at the back, and improve consistency is clearly open to debate.

For now though, I'll reconcile myself that we didn't continue the second half as we did the first, and fought back.

Wasn't like that earlier in the season.

Williams was absolutely fine. Remember him receiving a ball that had been fired into the heavens, and his first touch was sublime. Only negative I can think of was his long throw going too close to their keeper, rather than in the mixer when everyone had piled into the box.

This lad Arfield???

TBH I'd never heard of him, in a thread a few weeks ago there was a bit of banter about him being good for the dressing room and someone said " he's absolutely not!!"

Well a couple of weeks on and it seems every time he gets on the pitch we seem to go backwards or give up or accept that's it.

Is he a bad un????

I still haven't a clue why we signed him? He's well past it IMO, money would have been better spent on a decent young loan player instead.

That was quality. Williams coming on certainly added something

We dropped points today because we did not play for 45 minutes and another opposition manager has found a flaw in Evatts tactics.

On corners we have 11 back, and conceded twice with unchallenged players getting on balls, then they had another corner and we had 10 players in the six yard box.

The second half waz miles better but we equalised with 30 minutes to play ( nearly 40 with the extra time) for Evatt to react to the fact they ref should played probably an extra 90 second was pretty pathetic. Collins and McAtee had very little impact.

Dempsey and Captain Legohead both but real shifts in , Arfield seemed a strange replacement.

JDC gets some real stick but he linked up well  with Dempsey, I do not think it is JDCs job to go flying down the wing, he hold his position which left the space for Dempsey to run into and it worked well. Do not get me wrong he could sometimes do more, but he did a decent today IMO.

Must admit, I didn't quite get your response to the post you quoted.

Seemed as if you were responding to a different one?

Did anyone else notice when they had a free kick second half the keeper lined up 2 walls with a gap in the middle?  There was a main wall and another 2 man wall. Strange.

Was a different game from HT when Dempsey started to make those stretching runs down right that pulled defenders out and gave JDC room to join in. First half was criminal, back to walking football, 'start fast, score first' had been key to those three wins, concerning how the players couldn't seem to raise themselves to do it again, especially when Atherton reckoned post-match that him and Evatt had expected it.

We were great for half an hour when we upped the tempo and started to move and carry the ball at them at pace, they were panicking, retreating and threatening to leg someone up for a pen in desperation. Subs were badly timed as that full-on tempo was hard for McAtee and (especially) Collins to get up to.

Dempsey might well have been blowing a bit but Arfield offered nothing, again. Surely Lolos was worth a go for 10 minutes or so.

just seen the highlights back, the defending for both their goals as a team was fucking criminal, shame on them, dopey as fuck !!

Can't understand how anyone can defend what he did at the end, Evatt fan or not.

Their second goal is a duplicate of when they scored against us last season.

just showing some passion that's all, their captain had no right interfering in what IE was discussing with the Ref after the game, it happens lets move on!!

Well fair enough if you want to describe it as showing some passion. Is it considered acceptable in modern day football though? Would people be as readily accepting of it if that was the opposition manager doing that to one of our players?

I get opinion is polarised about Evatt at the moment, but take it in isolation. It looks bad for me.

Writing off a manager going head to head with an opponent as him just being passionate is perhaps the most bonkers thing I've read online in quite a while

No blame whatsoever on the players, they were carrying out instructions from IE, same as in April.  Don't mark, don't leave anyone on halfway so that they have to leave 2 back, don't go near the edge of the box.  We've all seen some poor performances over the years but I've not seen the fans around me in ESL as angry as they were in the 1st half for a long long time, not through poor play or lack of effort, just for the stubborn, amateurish tactics of the manager.

Dempsey in particular made the 2nd half entertaining and enjoyable, and I thought Toal was excellent too, we might have won against the mighty Shrewsbury and the place would have been buzzing, but if we're talking about making any impact on this poor division, those 2 goals conceded were final straw stuff for me.  It really feels we are playing with one hand tied behind our back.
