Wigan Athletic (H)

They had Saydee sent off yesterday. Straight Red.

Assume he will be banned ?

It's just a bit shit all around really. The Wigan player is a twat but there's zero chance it was unprovoked.

And then 'hold me back' trying to get on the bus. Just enjoy the win.

I don't see what 'unprovoked' has to do with anything? Surely professional football players have to be above that?

Not catching up on stuff, but anyone see Mason Burstow’s grandad after the game?

To be fair his record is great and Boro fans were saying he'd be a brilliant signing.

You don't need to be a regular watcher of Finland to assume he'd be good.

Yeah, I don't recall anyone saying we shouldn't have signed him or that we'd rather play with McAtee or Randall? Surely it was just a question of when not if he became the 2nd striker (I'm not having that he played as a 10 today, he was as much a striker as Burstow IMO).

We got the monkey off the back today be very surprised if they bring 1500 n xr seaon

No credit from Ryan Lowe for our performance, every goal was down to a mistake by them. Knob.

We’ve heard that script before

They do.

Perhaps "professional" is misplaced 🤣

First match without Randall & Mcatee (might as well be deceased) and finally a performance.

As much as the last goal was calamitous by Wigan, a shout out to Forss is essential.

He pressured initially, then anticipated the poor header, and then finished brilliantly.

He has a quick look, doesn't fear the keeper, then uses a little jump to greet the ball with a little, guided, cushioned pass on the outside of his foot, into the net.

A lot to appreciate, even though it looked simple.

I like the look of him.

I think if he stays fit, he becomes a big player for us

Shouldn't be throwing bottles obviously, but I don't see why being a professional footballer means they should accept abuse. Especially not outside the stadium.

It just seems a bit pathetic. The idea that it was fair game to call George Johnstone a fucking cunt when he played for Wigan, but apparently he's alright now (and the reverse for Will Aimson).

Classless manager, classless players, classless fans.

Whatever position he was it was exactly what we needed. Been said already but having him there meant there was a threat down the middle and the wingers couldn't just be double marked, and also meant having two defensive midfielders turned to a strength as they had someone properly threatening in front of them.

As full debuts go scoring 2 in a win against local rivals takes some beating

Yep, there was never any doubt he'd score once the opportunity presented itself. Same as with his first goal. Not going to start saying he's Ivan Klasnic after one game, but it's rare we've had a proper finisher.

Lots of our fans got 5 year bans for whizzing plastic bottles at these.

Was hardly that city bus turning up at Anfield was it?

The lad back off the coach to throw a bottle because he got a bit of stick.

Surely he can handle that.

What a sausage.

He has a good, sharp football brain and decent touch, that goal was great as you say, he nicked the ball off their lad for Burstow's goal and was in the right place to finish his other one. Couple of really smart flick ons with back to goal.

Nailed down the 10 slot for sure, perfect foil for the no9

Loved the pace and intensity in the first half. We play like that every week and we'll be a nightmare for anyone in the division.

I thought Forss was sensational and we went a bit off the boil when he went off.

Fantastic result.
