That'll go down as one our great night's, deserving to be mentioned alongside Hull, Everton, Arsenal etc I was there, and you're right, it didn't come close! About 300 of us celebrating as if we'd done something special and it was a group game against a team a division below 😀 Quote

Yesterday was a tough day taking my mum & dad to various hospital appointments. Life eh. Didn’t get a ticket as didn’t know what time we’d be done. Got back home knackered about 7pm and settled into watch the match. Isn’t footy amazing. 3 hours later I’m bouncing around the living room without a care in the world, with the missus thinking I’ve finally lost it. Phone rings and it’s my mum and dad buzzing about the match. Great boost for them. Thoroughly deserved win. Superb performance after the first 15-20 mins. Well done Dalby with the quick restart for the win. Well done the travelling fans - gutted I wasn’t there. Buzzing taking the dog for his nighttime walk. Buzzing waking up this morning. Amazing the impact footy can have given the sh!t we all have to wade through in life. COYWM. Let’s do this. Couldn't agree more. Its been "one of those weeks" for me and last night was a massive boost that literally makes you forget stuff for a while and changes your perspective on things. Quote

The more football I've witnessed over the years, the more convinced I've become that the vast majority of Pro footballers obviously have natural talent/skill, but it's their consistency that dictates what level they reach. Not for me. Simons isn't more consistent than most L1 midfielders, he's just better. Burstow isn't consistent, he can be clumsy one game and great for the 2nd half of the next, poor in the 1st half. Conway isn't necessarily consistent, but he's a class above (does he still need a rest by the way?!). Loads of top players in the Prem are up and down - Salah, Saka, Foden, Van Dyke, they are there because they are pure quality, and we'll never see their level from our players in L1 because they aren't capable of it. Duberry's destined to be championship standard at least but not because he's consistent, that was his 1st decent game in 4. Quote

Huddersfield knew this and were kicking and fouling him throughout (or trying to). Of course, it was Sheehan who got booked for virtually nothing! Despite this, we couldn’t break through, so Schumacher replaced Simons with Morley. This level of creativity in the centre, created more space for Tutu and, especially, ACD. It wasn’t simply a case of full backs getting tired; instead of doubling up on the wingers, Huddersfield players were pulled into the centre. And the winner came from Morley driving out of defence, before releasing Burstow. The rest, especially ACDs blindside run and finish, was excellent, but it was all initiated by Morley. These two (unbelievably) get a lot of stick on here, with many seemingly thinking the steel of Simons and Erhahon is all that’s required. It’s silk and steel that will deliver for us. I'd give this more than one like if I could. Absolutely bob on, and baffles me that folk who watch the same thing I do every week see something totally different. Quote

And it's not a linear progression. You can also have players who've had decent careers at higher levels who look bang average even after dropping down (see almost any player we signed post-relegation from the Premier League). There are players who perform in L1 and L2 consistently all the time who may never go higher. It's not reality that if you're in the third tier you can't be expected to be good every week, because everyone you're playing against is also a third tier player. On a related note, ACD was handled pretty well by Roosken until they took him off. That's the type of player he'll have to beat every week when he moves up to Championship level. Quote

A few minutes earlier the ball was bouncing about in the air, typical L1 with players from both sides miscontrolling etc, Conway stepped in and effortlessly took it down, sidestepped the couple of players around him, laid it off, the ball broke back to him and he repeated the calm play, I knew it wouldn't get plaudits because nothing came of it but I had to rewind that bit. Obviously his run to put McAtee in took it up another level, he's definitely not staying in L1 for too long. He needs a rest as well. Quote

Takes some doing after all the running he had done during the game. And he’s only got short legs 😁 Yes, that was impressive, incredible to make that run at that stage. Similarly, if you watch back far enough (91.5 mins), JDC goes in for a challenge with Harness near the left corner flag; it could easily have been a corner to them, all the home fans were appealing and another inch and it would have been. That would have been game over realistically and cost us not 1 point but 3. About 40 seconds later he's crossed it once and passed it twice and when ACD crosses it, he's near the right wing corner flag. He may not be the best technically but we wouldn't be getting those runs from Christie. Quote

I'd be interested in which games you have in mind at home? Again, I can't recall any, Crawley was decent last season but only the last goal was injury time. The difference with 90-oddth minute winners at home compared to away is half the crowd have already left at home and as good as it is, it dilutes the "limbs" a bit 😀 Well I think we did for Burton 2-1 at home under Evatt after going in to the 90th minute at 0-1. There was one v PNE in the late 80s when we were losing it until very, very late and won 2-1. Struggling now though. Quote

I just remember him scoring in front of us, I think it was my (our?) first visit to that stadium. And I think Holdsworth scored too, although they could have been two separate games in the same era. They used to give us the whole end then, I don't recall us filling it (not sure we even had to buy tickets in advance), but the atmosphere was always good. Quote

If they're on top of their game week in-week out, they'll get to the Championship. And if they're good enough to have a hand in getting us promoted..... Have a think about it. But what if they're not on top of their game week in week out, but are just a bit better than most other L1 players, eg Santos, Tomo, Baxter? I'm yet to see a player that plays well every game, at any level, although Kane does come close I'll admit. Quote
