If JM scored when put through by Conway, I reckon that would be our assist of the season and maybe one of our all time greats, mazy run and perfect through ball, you don't see many full backs capable of doing that regardless of level they play at, looked a mad dive tbh after it, but not seen a close up.

Watched the game today full 90 minutes. Thought the performance was ok we made Huddersfield look pretty ordinary or may be there just crap . 
Poor goal to concede yet again . Cogley is wrong side of the goal scorer for the corner then ends up on is arse .
Mactee miss sums him up is shot he hits ithe ball with is ankle ffs . 
positives we worked hard and stuck in there when it could of been easy to feel sorry for tjere selfs showed great team spirit which can be the difference in a tight league . 
need to back this up with back to back home wins nothing else then Stevenage away turns into a big game

I think Cogley is generally terrible at marking up and tracking at set pieces, entirely focused on his man without looking up or anticipating the runs but….on this occasion, some credit has to be given to Castledine and his team mate who effectively blocked Cogley from tracking the run. Think it was a clever training ground routine involving running so close behind a static team mate that the marker had nowhere to go bar through him - let him go or concede a pen.

McAtee running on to Conways through ball shows why he’s not a natural striker  - a natural striker would have got the shot away early instead of attempting to fool the goalie.

But we won and ultimately it’s about scoring more goals than the opposition.

Wasn't sure about going last night after being on the back end of Flu and not having left the house for 8 days. Actually flipped a coin for it, thank Christ it landed heads. Had no energy 2nd half and our amazing fans got me up for it, gave me an idea of how it must feel for the lads on the pitch.

The good

ACD, never mind the goal and assist, the amount of running that lad does is incredible.

Burstow brilliant again. Works hard for 90 mins, can hold it, can score, and even added a great assist to his bag. What a player.

Top attitude from the players, not the best start but never went hiding. Love how they kept at it and grew into the game before eventually overwhelming them.

That dribble from Conway was magical.

 

The bad

TSLs confidence looks gone, even in the warm up he was slow getting down to shots and palming some routine efforts straight back in front of him.

Our defence is still a worry, got away with it last night because Hudds seemed reluctant to really test us after going a goal up. Toal and Johnston lack speed and strength, and Conway can't defend. JDC was the only one I trusted out of the back 5 starting then he went and gave that goal away.

Good spot. It is fantastic. As is Burstow’s assist in spotting and executing the pass to play him in.

Been lots of debate this season about our wingers contribution.

And SS’s tactics in how to use them, home and away.

Even some talk as to whether they should be employed at all in away games.

 

Theres a line of debate that SS has mismanaged them, that he’s instructed them to do things different away than he has at home, that his only tactic has been to just give the ball out wide to the wingers and hope for the best.

I don’t see this.

And I think Thursday goes some way in demonstrating that.

Apart from Burton away, where I thought we went too direct and didn’t use them enough, the wingers have done a great job.

They’ve not got it right every time.

But the versatility in seeing them go inside, outside and through the middle, with both feet, sometimes crossing, sometimes shooting, will continue to be our biggest threat this season.

I've watched JDC before marking in the box on corners and he is a little terrier and a nuisance to the opposition. He absolutely looks at his man, grapples him, pisses him off, loads of moaning from whoever he marks.

Caught my eye one week, so now notice it. And yes, he lost his man on Thursday, but he is deffo in there to do a specific role.

You just know the last few weeks Forino would have been there with a clearing header too.

None Bolton mate (season ticket holder for that lot near Gonz) commented how he reminds him of seamus Coleman. ‘Romps’ was his description.

To be fair to Cogley he’s alongside him then the blocker catches his foot and trips him. Not sure it was deliberate but it does happen and that’s why he ends up on the floor

The ceiling for being a Bolton watching YouTuber probably isn't that high.
