Parky and his style of football wasn’t sophisticated and wasn’t my cup of tea. He did, however, have the kind of know-how you need to get promoted. In particular, he knew that you need centre halfs wh

Emphasis on my opinion, everybody is entitled to theirs. But Evatt does not deserve to be boo'd at all. He got the club going again, served us for 5 years and he did a lot of good for us in that

  • Parky's achievement in getting us out of this division in his first season (under an embargo too) looks better and better every year. No expectations of him needing years to build a side. Signed Alnwi

I'm not one of these "boot it long" merchants, but under no circumstances should that ball be played to Sheehan when he's being tightly marked like that. Instead by Sheehan pulling a midfielder towards our goal there should be space behind for a long ball.

Yet I can't blame the goalie, it's clearly management instruction as it's done at every club. High risk, low reward football I'll never understand.

I imagine goals from this passing around at the back would have been on blooper reels even as late as the 2000s but it seems an accepted part of the games these days.

Anytime from when we'd scored, but certainly after they'd scored, the risk should have been dialled down and the ball kept away from our area till we'd had chance to take the heat out of their revival

Which bet am I supposed to be putting on?
The one where we don’t stop fucking up and don’t score enough whilst the other teams play well and catch us, or the one where we do improve as I suggested we need to and we stay in the top six?

You’re talking in riddles mate.

Probably the middle option where we do what we've been doing all season and get in the playoffs comfortably

Once we scored, they had to come out at us which they did.
This left bigger spaces in the middle of the pitch and rather than going a bit more direct, we reverted to short pass mode.

On the bonham fuck up, am I the only one that thought the first was poor keeping to? He got two hands to a cross and pushed it across goal. I thought he could’ve held onto it.

He’s made some good saves since coming in which is an upgrade on TSL no doubt but equally looked dodgy as fuck at times for me.

Right at the end when he came out to fletcher, he was indecisive for a split second and that nearly cost us the game as that meant he was never getting there.

he didn't have a good game yesterday by any stretch of the imagination.

We're currently 5th on the PPG with 1.71 (the 3 draws in a row won't have been good for that in the last week) and on course for 78.7 points

7th placed Stevenage are on 1.5 PPG and on course for for 69 PPG. Reading are a touch behind.

So you're right, we're on course for the play offs, but really can't afford a load more draws or that picture will quickly change.

It was my fault. Speaking to the guy behind me I said how nice it was to have a boring goalkeeper

We're so frustrating it's unbelievable. It's been a strange season. It's March next weekend and it feels like we've never really got going. Suppose that's what a shit load of draws do. Next couple of months is gna be a slog just waiting for the playoffs. I'm extra annoyed that we haven't given ourselves a proper chance of autos as I'm at a music festival the weekend of the play off final.

We've only lost 2 as well.

Simply not clinical enough.

The post I quoted suggested we're better playing better teams. It's two wins in 11 vs the top 10 for 13 points (1.1ppg).

45 from 23 against everyone else (1.9ppg).

I don't think we are better at playing better teams, because we're just not that good.

Draws are massively overrated if you're a side chasing promotion. They'll get you nowhere in the long run.

Automatics now gone so trying to stay in the play off race as that is not a given seeing as we struggle to score and our defence are an accident waiting to happen.
My worry a 2 legged play off !

Stats prove it, we have the highest xG over the course of the season in L1 (marginally higher even than Cardiff) but are just under 7 goals off where we should be.

Even bagging half of those chances could have had us in a far stronger position.

The thought of facing Stockport in the play offs makes me nervous.

Now you’ve done it. Don’t be bringing that foreign muck into it

I really really really hope Huddersfield sneak it. I’d back us against them over 2 legs or at Wembley.

Stockport absolutely not, Bradford are shit but we’d have to deal with a big home crowd.

I'd take a reversion to the mean in the playoffs

57 big chances missed, second only to Cardiff.

I could go on.

Its not a mistake?.....A. Bonham passed straight to their mon.......B. I'm pretty sure the managers instructions will be to play it if its on (it wasnt)........and C. Its fucking lunacy at this level anyway. Get it upfield and let their defenders make the cock ups.

The mistake was in the decision to pass it, not in the execution, that's why I contrasted it with slicing a clearance or missing a sitter.  I mean he will do that same pass to Sheehan again and it may or may not lead to a goal, but it will happen.

Agree with you its lunacy at this level (any level for me as shown by plenty Prem keepers) - that's why I blame the manager, because he allows them to make up their own mind rather, so law of averages says they'll pass it to the opposition occasionally.   2 out of 13 home goals conceded entirely down to keepers trying to play out, and we've got away with a few more.

Well, either the keepers at fault for doing it, or the receiving players for not being a ke to control it.

Either way it seems to be a Bonham 'thing' and he needs to stop it.

I agree… great teams have top Players with excellent in game management skills… think we lack that, perhaps Christie would have added that if he’d been put on the pitch. It’s definitely something we lack.

It's not the modern way to pass it to a player who's marked

It really is from what I've seen

Really can not be arsed reading through all the posts from yesterdays game, not because I doubt anyone’s views etc but simply because we have sent it and read it all multiple times this season.
Totally dominating a game, creating a few decent chances and nothing quite falling for someone and then a collapse into being totally over run then battling back for a point and nearly snatching it. Making subs too late, CBT has 60 minutes in his legs, Apter not much more. They were subbed in 76th minute.
Automatics clearly now gone, think they had last week tbh. So now we have to secure the play off spot , get player upto full fitness and decide our best XI.
One thing that should be lost is how good our second goal was. That right back must have been beaten 20 times yesterday but it was a great cross and finish.

The manager got it wrong yesterday.
