stinkythefrog Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Bolton boss Sam Allardyce may try to sign Argentina captain Juan Pablo Sorin from Villarreal. (Daily Mail) From the BBC gossip column apparently the Daily Mail are trying to convince people we have a hope in hell of signing Sorin Another one to add to the not a prayer collection or am I getting old and cynical ?
Burndens Bogs Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 If you're old and cynical - then so am i,we've fcukin no chance of getting Sorin, but it's nice to be even linked with such players i s'pose. One of the best left backs in the world imo.

Mounts Kipper Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Something of a nomad both on and off the pitch, Sorin began life as a left-back, but has also found himself at centre-half and pushed up into a midfield berth. He copes admirably wherever he is put, though, and has represented Argentina Juniors, Juventus, River Plate, Brazil's Cruzeiro, Lazio, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Villarreal. Was an instrumental part of Argentina???s qualifying campaign. this is his profile, every time i have seen him play for villareal he has been in midfield, but it looks as though he started as a left back, i think his style would be suited to the prem, love to see us sign him as a midfield enforcer.
jules_darby Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 They flash his name on the screen at the Reebok everytime someone's injured. Best maltloaf on the market tha knows...

stinkythefrog Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 Well as he is the current captain of Argentina, only 30 years old and a name player in European football I would imagine there will be bigger clubs than us after him who can offer him European football .

stinkythefrog Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 f??ck ambition then where's Franck Passi at these days? O:) Well yes it shows ambition but so would putting a bid together for Ronaldinho but there is no reality in there. Don't get me wrong if we could get someone like that I would be seriously chuffed but I just don't think it is going to happen. With only a couple of players in and the season start looming it is a fine balancing act between chasing players like this that are probably out of our reach on the off chance one of them comes off and bringing in decent players who can do a job for us ( as opposed to Franck Passi !!!)

BWFC_LOVE Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 We were linked with Sorin back when he was at Barca, and playing attrociously at left back. Villarreal shoved him on the wing, and he's been a revelation. He has bags of pace and can run all day. Similar to a Bernard Mendy on the left wing. He'd work wonders on the left side of our front three, not that I believe we'll have a chance of signing him.
Traf Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 He's also a red ginger of the HIGHEST order Which surely makes him a potential Bolton signing.
tyldesley_white Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 He's also a red ginger of the HIGHEST order Whys that then ?
Bigtoe Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 He's also a red ginger of the HIGHEST order Whys that then ? He did knock a door run at his house

Eddie Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 According to the Daily Mail we have had a 2 mil bid rejected. If it's true then it shows that we believe that we can sign him and for once we have the money to put in reasonable bids and then raise them if need be.
frank_spencer Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 from SSN Villarreal have confirmed that they are willing to sell Argentinian defender Juan Pablo Sorin. The 30-year-old full back was part of the Albicelestes team which promised so much, but failed to deliver at the World Cup in Germany, getting knocked out at the last 16 stage. He has already been linked with a move to The Premiership with Tottenham Hotspur or Bolton Wanderers, but El Madrigal president Fernando Roig says there is plenty of competition for his signature. "We are negotiating for the exit of Sorin this summer," Roig explained. "His sale is almost certain because of many reasons. We have several offers." The player is contracted to the Yellow Submarine for another two seasons, but now looks to be surplus to coach Manuel Pellegrino's requirements for the coming campaign. Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart and Italy's Internazionale are thought to be the other interested parties, though the player is expected to return to Spain for the end of the month after his extended holidays.
Guest Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 If Inter Milan and Studdgart are interested in him what are the chances that he will sign for us.
