Bigtoe
First time I went in Kiss I was pissed, anyhow I walked in and saw a load of people down in the distance, so had a wander to see what was going on and walked head first into a big mirror on the wall. Zozzy
some of the pubs that have been mentioned: Rose hill is still going, it is used as the bus drivers' social club. The original one was next to Hick Hargreaves (which isn't there anymore, it is sainsburies supermarket) The Anchor is still there (the one off Bradshawgate) It isn't trading but has a For Sale sign up. Morris Dancers closed last week, they are looking for new Landlord. Ancient Shep was turned into flats. These were tenanted last year, nobody living there now. I think it is empty/being changed into offices maybe now. Derby Arms on dobble became a doctors surgery, is now a muslim grocery store Bus Inn has long gone. It was near Th'Ancient Shep and also near Bell Sport shop which also isn't there anymore

Members bolty58
Freddie Frinton. The ultimate portrayal of a pssed up bloke. Hat at a jaunty angle, scarf, and a bent tab hanging out of his mouth. Did he used to say "we've supped some stuff tonight"? He did. Thanks to NB and Crombie. Brought back some memories that did
Zozzy
not strictly a pub,but Pedros on Halliwell road(i'm presuming its gone cos he were an owd cunnt 20 year ago) Pedro still lives on Halliwell road a few houses down from where he had the wine bar. It's a terraced house straight on to the street no garden, in summer he sits there sunning it in his deck chair. At first I thought it was the original wine bar that he had converted back into a house but now I'm not sure, it seems a bit lower down the road. I didn't know what rough table wine was until I visited Pedros. A Spanish equivalent of the Wood St Social Club.

It' been a busy little gaff has that - it also got renamed Rotters,Flags,Space City and finally Kiss (as mentioned)

fishbulb
Not been drinking round Bolton for many a long year but used to nip into Prince Rupert from school. And t'Dancers. Shame to hear it's shut. We used to get bus into town and stop off for a snifter at the Clifton back in the day. First pint was in the Swan, aged about 14 I think. Me, not the pub. Round here there's pubs closing every month or so. You need to be either decent, well located or feckin' cheap to survive these days.

THunter
Oh aye, legendary place that was - not for the faint hearted at times You're not kidding. There was a police presence at chucking out time,so there wasn't any trouble outside the club, but around the corner on Tonge Moor Road, there was a chip shop, known locally as the Greasy Greek, which used to stay open until late. There would be a small riot outside there roughly once a fortnight.

Oh i dunno, i was driving past in the early 80's and there was a 50-a-side brawl outside, it spread onto the forecourt of the garage (Tom Ashtons) and down Tonge Moor Rd - a coachload of scousers had upset the locals i think. Members bolty58
The 'Bees Knees'started out as The Casino Club. Used to have beltin soul nights there offset against the Palais (same crowd, same Dj's etc). Was really good then; any agro was a small flare up usually involving some bloke not being happy about his bird being eyed/touched up - started to go downhill though and became the Bees Knees.
