Sweep Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Sainsbury and BP near me have sold out. Fortunately I managed to fill up at the BP on the A50 yesterday where there was only a 5 minute queue.........it was 149.9 per litre though the robbing chuffers. I might be a bit knackered when at the end of today though as I should be doing around 450 miles Quote
MickyD Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Needed to put some in anyway as I only had a quarter of a tank. Went to Harwood Morissons and queued at 6.45. Mate of mine who works there said each pump space was occupied when he opened up at 06.30. I isn't a petrol shortage it's a fucking common sense shortage. Quote
no balls Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 Right, I shall be going out at 9am and woe betide if there's nowt from here to Over Hulton! Quote
maaarsh Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 If 5 days of purchases have been pulled forward from next week, this whole farce will add 15bps to Q1 growth Quote
Traf Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 If 5 days of purchases have been pulled forward from next week, this whole farce will add 15bps to Q1 growth Is that not the plan? Govt-induced/forced spending? Quote
Pablo Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I filled up at Morrisons on Choley old Rd at 6:15 this morning, about 4 vans & 2 taxi's filling, thats all. My drive to Goodison tomrorow, so im sorted now. Quote

MickyD Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Is that not the plan? Govt-induced/forced spending? Definitely an engineered petrol panic. Quote
Traf Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 If you add in the fact that many places have increased the fuel by around 3p per litre this week too: that's another 0.6p per litre raised in VAT for the Govt coffers. Taxation on fuel accounts for so much of the country's income: those in power will never do anything to help the motorist. Quote
Snow_white Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 So if i run out fuel i can't get to work - holiday time. Is this not a win-win situation? Quote
MickyD Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Provided your lifestyle allows you to live without funds, yes, holiday time, Quote
HomerJay Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 3 garages on my way to work were dry. but wife just rang and she managed to fill up at tesco in chorley there were only 3 cars on the forecourt suprisingly Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Girlfriend works at a Supermarket, their garage alone took ?1.5m yesterday! Utter madness. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Girlfriend works at a Supermarket, their garage alone took ?1.5m yesterday! Utter madness. How much do they usually take? Quote
DazBob Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Girlfriend works at a Supermarket, their garage alone took ?1.5m yesterday! Utter madness. Not having that. ?1.5m, say at an average of ?60 per customer, means they had 25,000 paying customers yesterday. Methinks she's exaggerating a tad. ... unless they sold a lot of barbecue briquettes too. Quote
Guest Frandsen08 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 its sounds more likely that morrisons sold that much yesterday Quote
MickyD Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I must admit, I thought it was one hell of a big garage. Quote
Matt Lofthouse Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Don't shoot the messenger, that's what the split dick said. Not sure what they normally take. The supermarket has its own tankers as well so they wont be on strike anyway. Quote

Matt Lofthouse Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) Not sure mate (separate union?). I presume there will also be picket lines at the main depots for the supermarket drivers to contend with. edit - into Engerlish Edited March 30, 2012 by Matt Quote
no balls Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 Sainsburys at Westhoughton, same price as usual and I drove straight up to the pump. I've no idea what all the fuss is about Quote

DazBob Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Just popped out to fill up (light came on this morning - no panic buying from me). Sainsburys at Heaton Park has no diesel left. Luckily found a Shell down the road with some. ?75 to fill up. Robbing cunts. Quote
Boby Brno Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) Caught a tram into the centre of Prague this morning and it was 1 min late, I wasn't happy. How many of you on here have said that you've filled up when you probably wouldn't have done normally and added to the problem? I seem to remember the last strike in 2000 (no need to panic said Tony Blair) when there was no panic before the strike and people were running out of fuel on the motorways! Maybe some people have long memories and even the threat of a strike leads people to take precautions but this is over the top. Edited March 30, 2012 by Boby Brno Quote
