stevieb Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Here are mine in order: Euro 96 WC 02 WC 98 Euro 04 WC 94 even though England werent in it WC 06 WC 10 Euro 00 Euro 08 I wish I was about for 86, 70 and obviously the 66 world cups. I also wish I could remember italia 90 but I was only 5.
no balls Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Italia 90 was my favourite. I'd really love to one day win a World Cup or Euro. In my lifetime? I'd love it, just love it. Anyhow, back to Italy in 1990. Fucking ace! You've got to hold and give but do it at the right time.....................
stevieb Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Le Tournoi - we fuckin won it. See I dont ever remember that at all, all I know is the bobby carlos effort.
Walkden26 Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 See I dont ever remember that at all, all I know is the bobby carlos effort. What about the Umbro Cup?
bgoefc Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 1970 1990 1996 1978 2006 too young for 66 as i wuz just turned 6 and our black and white telly was always on the blink. Those were the best for England, 78 was probably the best for excitement given the games started at 11pm and every one had fantastic goals.
stevieb Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 78 was probably the best for excitement given the games started at 11pm and every one had fantastic goals. I think thats why I like 2002. Wagging college and getting pissed in Sportsman as 6 in the morning or whatever it was. Great times!

Not being embarrased to knock on the pub door & looking over the net curtains to see whether the bar staff were there at 6am. My personal highlight was my bro getting an England badge tattoo on his arm the day before the Brazil game...and it was/is wonky.
bgoefc Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 82 wc was also ok but like 2006 and 2002 we under performed when it wuz there for the taking . keegan and brooking should hold their heads in shame,
superjohnmcginlay Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 the lostock arms was on the bbc breakfast IIRC, i was in Kos for two of the games and Wigan for one game and work for the Brazil game

stevieb Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Does he not just tell people the tattoo's straight, it's his arm that's wonky? He's not that clever and he has more shit tats now to deflect from it.
Burndens Bogs Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Italia 90 Euro 96 Mexico 86 Argy 78 Also a mention for Portugal 04, there was hardly one bad game and loadsa goals.

Didledee Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Best I've seen England play was Euro 04, dominated France but got mugged, thrashed Switzerland and Croatia, Rooney was unplayable but it all ended when he broke his foot and we failed on pens v Portugal. Euro 08 was good, Holland were a great watch in the group stages, then Russia and Spain showing their passing football is good enough to win big tournaments, no England but I liked the football nevertheless.
Traf Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Euro 96 was when football became "trendy" and ticket prices went through the roof to face-painted, shirt-wearing, scarf-waving wanklers from the Home Counties.
Widnes Two Hats Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 1988 Germany, we got spanked but I discovered Germany, met 8 Welsh lads in Magaluf who were in the RAF based at Laarbruch just outside Munchengladbach so we stayed with them and drank pints of German beer for a pint in the NAFFI. 2006, World Cup tour through Germany and Prague 2002, took far too many drugs and can't remember anything But Italia has to be the best, could have been so different
mickbrown Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Nothing will ever beat 1990. *Goes all misty eyed at the thought of summer in the Westleigh.
gonzo Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 world cup 2002 for me...similar to stevieb,i was 18 and fucking loving it,pissed by 9am! watched the argy and nigeria games on a lads jolly in tenerife...great stuff! was the first wanderersways sportmans dinner right in the middle of it aswell!! euro 96,as a football obsessed 12 year old...didnt get any better than that! watched the games with my old man in the boozer, cried my fucking eyes out after germany! euro2000 year i left school, must of watched the kicking off in charloi for 2 days solid on sky news thinking i want a bit of that!!!
Biggish Dave Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 I enjoyed being in France in 1998 and Germany 2006 so as an event these were the best - esp Germany, 9 days in Nuremberg with a day trip to Cologne in the middle of it. I enjoyed Mexico 86 too, getting up in the middle of the night to watch some of the games - then that bastard Maradona went and ruined it
Youri McAnespie Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) Italia '90 - thought we might just win it (and we had a couple of songs). Euro '96 - thought we might just win it (and we had a good song - until it got flogged to death). Mexico '86 - We did alright, Denmark, France and...A******* did a bit better, first one I remember properly. Manuel Negrete's, and, loathe him or hate him, Maradona's goal, shagger Lineker got the golden boot and almost I completed my sticker album (Paraguay 'keeper need and a Danish defender). And France '98 - if only for Owen's goal and the thought (once again) momentarily, that we could win this... Edited June 12, 2012 by Youri McAnespie
