MickyD Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Just been on radio, it seems they're now looking at the uk gutter press for the over-reaction. Quote
bolty58 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 what's the feeling down there? When I cough, they both still move. Quote
bolty58 Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Just been on radio, it seems they're now looking at the uk gutter press for the over-reaction. No Micky - not the general feel down here. Most folk disgusted and the head of the radio station copped a right grilling in the media this morning. Turns out that NSW law prohibits putting these things to air unless the 'target' gives written agreement. Could get really nasty for the radio station and the two perpetrators are about to break their silence in interviews on tonights TV current affairs programmes. I'll let you know what's said. Quote

Carlos Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 The bird involved looks rough as fuck now, she could be a before and after in the Meths thread. However, I blame the editor or whoever approved its broadcast. Someone also blamed the hospital. It's like when a hacker gets into NASA and they claim it's cost millions to fix. Actually, all that's happened is someone has exposed a shit system that needed fixing all along. The hospital need to take a proper look at their procedures. Quote
MalcolmW Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 It's all very well having standards and procedures in place. But when push comes to shove the story always takes precedence and the standards are ignored. The radio station claimed they made stenuous efforts to get the OK from the hospital before broadcasting. Phoowey. They knew (or certainly should have) that there was not a snowball's chance in hell of approval. The hospital serves many more than royals and senior politicians and rely on discretion from staff. Numbers have been falling for some time and they had had staff cuts as a direct result in recent years. Plus a name change to make it appear less exclusive. So even if management didn't berate the nurses duped by the prank, other staff may have done. And the obviously phony accents may not have been so apparent to an Indian nurse. Quote
DazBob Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 I'd still fuck it. I've done much, much worse. Quote
Cheese Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 And the obviously phony accents may not have been so apparent to an Indian nurse. All the Indian nurse did was forward the call to the ward. Her entire contribution to the conversation was "Hello, good morning, King Edward VII Hospital." and "Oh yes, just hold on ma'am.". That was it. Quote

Glad we agree, so need for further comment! Quote
Zico Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 what a load of old bollocks terrible consequences but no one saw it coming - and there's been far worse radio prank calls that that, which are actually also incidentally very funny but something like this is far more likely to result in a death or have life changing consequences: but we all found it funny, or more to the fact, no one was offended or were concerned about the potential after effects http://www.wanderersways.com/forum/topic/72586-cheating-office-gobbler-lass-destroyed-live-on-air/ there's far worse goes on this forum, with the shit some posters get, that could push someone other the edge what happened may have tipped the poor woman other the edge, but I doubt it was the main reason for her topping herself, so to try and pin this on the DJs or say they have blood on their hands is too much - they'll be feeling guilty though, no doubt about it Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 The DJ's will have this on their concience for ever- not too sure that a stretch inside will make them feel any worse. Let the powers that be carry out necessary investigations to see if any 'offence' was committed and act accordingly. Interestingly the royals appeared to publicly play it down with Charles making a joke of it; would that have eased the girls fears for her job? Surely there must be other issues here. Can't see how they can be blamed for her death-ultimately it was her decision- though may have contributed to her state of mind. Spent a fair bit of time this year helping my brother following our dad's passing- he got in a bad way and admitted to contemplating suicide- thankfully, he didn't, but if he had no one would blame my old fella for causing it! As for the 'prank', it wasn't funny anyway- perhaps society is just bloated on a diet of celebrity non-reality, and we don't really need such drivel. Quote
