DomRepWanderer Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 I remember in the 70s used to see the players in Scamps after away games jsl. Quote
Andydee Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 VaVa first 'club' I ever got in. Cranberry Fayre for the pool. Wigan Casino for the music and experience. Kilhey Court for some unexpected great nights. One in Chester I can't remember the name of but was the haunt of the nurses. Gilly's Rockworld for going suited and booted after work, sticking out and not giving a shiny. Some place in Blackpool with strippers and a black doorman in a kilt. Quote

gonzo Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Waterfront ...double your money Thursdays, pay £10 in get £20 back in drinks vouchers.Jimmy Day banging out the tunes. Heaven&Hell triple your money Fridays, pay £10 get £30 back in drinks vouchers...and they wondered why it kicked off every week! This place was my Toms....first club I stomped in. There was this little gangway in between Heaven and Hell, both seperate clubs, that were littered with fuck heads lay all over the floor gurning and gouching all over the place! haha Then the Syndicate opened and blew everything out of the water. First night in there was Judge Jules, played 'happiness loneliness' as his first tune, nearly spunked myself. What a place for me that was...my very own superclub on my doorstep! Spent a lot of time in Bowlers before it went...the technodrome was imense. Did Monroes in harrod only twice...gurnsey gursnsey. Quote

tomski Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Bar x/s in fallowfield would involve getting drunk and play table football with a guy still known to this day as table football guy. I spent hours playing on that table and I was quite upset when they took it away. Quote
Marc505 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) Used to be very much into metal, our Thursday nights often comprised of Varsity then Hawthorns (the old, dirty, better version) and Rock Kitchen on Oxford Road on Saturdays, some superb nights in there on what was always a piss wet through dance floor, often ended up on my arse. Got more into dance music over the years, started by ending up at a randomly immense night called Sinergy that was held in Club North underneath Afflecks Palace, very hard house and not really to my tastes, but it gave me my first dance club experience, unforgettable. Then Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights turned into doing the Bradshawgate pub crawl (would have frowned upon this in the metal days!), shirt and shoes, not tshirt and baggy jeans! Usually ending up in Ikon and its grubby little brother Jumping Jaxx. Cheesy, but when those Clubland nights kicked in and you knew people were coming from all over for them it was a great atmosphere. Syndicate in Bristol Ive done a couple of times, and like Gonzo said, nights there just blow everything out the water. Pole dancers, smoke, lasers... brilliant. Had a rave in that castle on the beach at New Brighton once, that was poo. Wish Id have been into dance when Atlantis was still open, never got the chance to go (or got chance to go on the fun bus that left Bradshawgate to get up there!). Heard it was great in there! Judge Fudge Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Quite a few already mentioned...also used to enjoy going to the nights they put on at the West Indian club in town, Funky Munky or something like that. Very messy times.. Quote

Spider Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 BANTRY Fuck me. Once, and once only did I end up in there. They even let me in with my shorts on after a full day on the piss watching the cricket at old Trafford. I was so drunk I lost a sandal. Quote
jules_darby Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Home, Just off piccadilly Shit me that's just kicked back into my memory Canal Bar in Manc. Run by Loc 19 (security firm that ran doors all over Manc and beyond) which was illustrated in the brickwork on the floor. The company that was run by Micky Francis when he'd "ahem" gone straight. Had a bloke on the bongos and you could have a go Quote
Marc505 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 New Bergeracs down Bank Street. Walk through the always flooded floor past the toilets with bits of shit floating about in it. Got robbed by a girl on the dancefloor there once - had her hand down my pockets while pretending she was well into me. Should have known better. A place next door to that that youd go in and people would be MC'ing... awful! Quote
Smiffs Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Was Tropics what the White Horse on Railway Road became, which then became Bananas or something? Aye. But it was bananas first then tropics then tropics 2. Tickle and black Lenny on the doors. Most Fridays and Saturdays in our late teens early 20's. Fletchers (toffs then bjs) or topppers (woodys) Thursday night. Toddys and ruebins Friday or Saturday. For a big night out we'd go to ritzy but the wimminfolk weren't as rough as what we were used to. Quote
Carlos Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 First club I ever went in was Maxwells Plum when I was 14. Progressed BIHE, initially on Chadwick campus then at Deane, before Bolton had indie clubs. Some rum nights there, kicking off with students, the Irish stuck together! Student Ritzy, with DJ Jason, playing chart music wasn't so student. Space City, I think on a Weds. Started venturing into Manc as Madchester broke, Devilles on Lloyd St was a great night. The Banshee for the goth scene, downstairs was pitch black! The Ritz was a great night, bit crusty on a Monday and indie dance on Weds. The Venue (?) down the road was more indie, stick to the carpet type place. Went to the Hacienda on a Thursday, and it was poor. Too many wankers drinking tangerine flavoured water was my memory.
