magic legs Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I had a look at Leicester's run-in last night and they have got us, Palace, Brighton, Forest & Watford in last 6 games. Quote
Tel Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Not quite 7 games ago, but after the Hull game (4 games ago) Dan took 28/1 with Skybet and I got 40/1 with bet365. I got 33/1 at ladbrookes on the morning of the hull game and put a tenner on it, it might make up for the £100 I put on in August. £50 to win the league at 7/1 and £50 to get promoted at 9/4 Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 It was Watford who squeezed in over the late fixtures (ending up 5th), and Wolves who missed out (on 73). My mistake, it was the season after we pipped Wolves to the last place, culminating in 'defeat' by a bent and/or incompetent & cowardly-souled shithouse. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) But, look at the comparable run-in from that season (Fathead and the Knightmare at Portman Road). What a run, magnificent! Let's believe we can do it again (but keep quiet about it - in case it goes tits up). Edited March 12, 2013 by Youri McAnespie Quote
superwhitesub Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Had a look on web at the last 4 seasons and the points for the last play-off place: 08-09 - 74pts 09-10 - 70pts 10-11 - 75pts 11-12 - 75pts I think we won't just make it, but would gladly be wrong... Quote
Traf Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 You can't just go off the points tally. If everyone's beating everyone else and we just keep picking up points, we'll be reet Quote
DazBob Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 You can't just go off the points tally. Exactamundo, it's irrelevant. 40 points is supposed to be enough to keep you in the Barclays Premier League too, we know this isn't always the case. Quote

ex_midlandwhite Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 My reservation remains the away form, we still have just three away wins for the season. Five of the last nine are away. I hope the recent five game streak is a sign of form in general as opposed to just reflecting 4 games at home. The performance at Derby was good and we could have won that so hopefully we can get at least one win in the next two games away. Quote
DazBob Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 My reservation remains the away form, we still have just three away wins for the season. Again, pretty irrelevant IMO. For the vast majority of this season we've been generally pretty shit. Currently, though, we're not. I'd rather base our chances on our current form. Out of our last 3 away games we've won at Barnsley, should've won at Derby and got a hard earned point at the other form team in this league, Forest. Five points out of three away games isn't too shabby. Quote

Perhaps Forest will be at ease going into the last couple of games, safe in the knowledge their spot will be secure if they hold Millwall to a draw away and beat Leicester at home. That's how it works doesn't it? It's not over 'til it's over, keep picking up points until it's in/out of our hands. If it goes tits up, we can just pretend we were having bit of a run anyway, stretching our legs - as we see the 'train' pulling away. At this date in 2000 Bolton were tenth and 7 points off sixth. There's a precedent then, granted it took a run (see above) of magnificent proportions. My reservation remains the away form, we still have just three away wins for the season. Perhaps this caution is because of all the 'false dawns' we've experienced of late, some are understandably finding it hard to accept it could actually be a bright, white shining morning...Shining, like, erm..a light! Zico Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 my caution comes that by end of play tonight, with 2 away games to come, we could be 4 points off 6th and 7 off 5th if we can beat Ipswich, the day we play Charlton, Forest play Brighton, and Forest go to Hull before then ah fuck it, just had a look at the fixtures and they are a proper mixed bag as everyone plays everyone so, a lot will be about who can hold their nerve we seem to have got good at that recently, so there's some hope coming from that still ask me again tomorrow Quote
Casino Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 i'm not bothered really if they said the season finsihes now, i'd not be too upset if he can keep the players he wants and add some of the ones he wants, i'll put this down as a good season got shut of some deadwood got shut of coyle and his cronies got ourselves abright young manager if we get promoted, too, that'll be icing on the cake Quote

jonnycooper Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Considering we are not in a Play-off position 6/1 is gash odds,,Taking into account that even if we were to win every remaining league game,,it does,nt guarantee a play-off spot...Having said that,I think we have a Squad capable of doing that,Dougie is making us difficult to beat....So come on Bolton,Lets give it an effing good go. =D> Quote
MalcolmW Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Taking into account that even if we were to win every remaining league game,,it does,nt guarantee a play-off spot.. Nonsense. In the unlikely event that we win every remaining league game we will have 81 pts. We can all agree on that. In the 24 seasons in which the second tier has been playing 46 matches, 81 would have made the playoffs on only 19 occasions. The other 5 it would have got automatic promotion (once the champions got 81). The highest points achieved in 7th place is 75 (once). The lowest points achieved in 6th place is 70 (3 times). Other than that it's been 71, 72 and 73 twice each, 74 six times, 75 five times and 76 four times. Quote
stevieb Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Just done the predictor thing and have us just missing out in 7th place by 2 points (losing at Cardiff). I have Leicester in 8th. Cardiff Watford Palace Hull Brighton Forest Bolton Leicester Quote
campo'swig Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Predictor's mean nothing as this league is far from predictable. Who would have predicated us to win 4 in a row and 3 of them 1.0?? Quote
