only1swanny Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 has anyone had any experience of them... before the replies start, I go to the gym 4 times a week, I go running twice a week ( normally 3/4 miles ), and live a very active and healthy life styles.. however, I have a thing, where my body cant covert stored energy to usable energy at a normal rate, which means if I work out at the gym, I have to replace pretty much all burnt calories straight away.. end result, I don't loose any weight, tis shite... now these tablets apparently help you loose weight, but does anyone know if they help transform the stored energy, or just stop you from being hungry ?? I'm baffled... Quote
Flannel Truscott Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 They are basically whizz, so draw your own conclusions. Ephedrine and Caffeine I think. Quote
dave2980 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Weight loss supplements increase your metabolic rate generally by increasing heart rate and body temperature. Caffeine and cayenne pepper are common ingredients. Get some red bull and a bag of nagas and watch it start falling off Quote
anewman Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Don't work, tried it once, used to pop one half hour before gym, made fuck all difference Quote
anewman Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Swanny for the month of July I cut out the booze, had no bread, ate chicken for dinners, stopped a fried breakfast and dropped 6 kilos, not been gym either cos my backs fucked, maybe have a look what you're eating Quote
DIPS Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I've seen mixed results on people. Lads at the gym who take it lose weight straight away. Couple of women at work take it and its made only a slight difference. you have to put the work in too, you just can't expect the weight to shed.. As stated above it basically whizz. Be careful, with it. The women at work were later discipline and then sacked as the side affects were clearly showing in the work place. Quote
kent_white Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I tried them a couple of years back and didn't get on with them. Train 4 mornings a week at Thai but the caffeine in these pills kept me up and edgy half the night, so was consequently to knackered to do much in the mornings. With the amount you're doing, it wouldn't surprise me if the same happened to you. Are you doing heavy weights at the gym? Might be that you're just concentrating on the wrong type of exercise for weight loss. I always thought lots of light reps was the way to go for fat burning? Also, this thing that you've got, is it a proper medical thing or something that you're presuming you've got? I can recommend a book if you want to do things naturally 'The Complete Guide to Sports Nutrition' by Anita Bean. Might answer a few of your questions about how your body converts energy. It also has some good plans for weight loss etc. Anyway - good luck! Quote

I'm baffled... What happens if you don't replace all burnt calories straightaway? Will you die? If not, try not doing. Stick to three decent meals a day and don't worry about this replacing calories stuff if there isn't some medical imperative meaning you need to. Do longer runs, or read up on fartlek training. Increasing heart rate and then bringing it down repeatedly for 45 mins or so is a winner for shedding timber, though you will want to die at the end. Or set challenges. A good one is to try and be rid of 1000 calories in an hour on a cross trainer. As it is you are not doing that much exercise if your runs are as short as you say, each one is prob about 350 calories. If you eat, say 2350 that day, which is easily done, then of course you're not losing anything. For starters on a treadmill Do 10 mins on about 10km speed Then do 1 min on 17km and 1 mins on 10. Repeat five times. Then do another 10 mins on 10km. Then repeat the 1 min on 17 and 1 min on 10 five times. Then warm down with 10 mins on 10. That will take about 40 minutes and will be probably upwards of 700 calories. Do that four times a week for a month, eat properly and if you haven't lost weight you're a medical marvel. L/H White Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 it's all about the diet, 5 small meals a day. Running in the morning on an empty stomach is a great start to the day. Quote
gonzo Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 They were all the rage not so long back round here, few girls that work for my missus were on them. Know a fella which they worked a treat,he's lost about 2 stone...so much so the last time I saw him I thought he'd been ill! Then again our peg tried them and said they made her feel ill and off her head. From what I can gather they are just like whizz,if you can put up with feeling fucked in the day they work. Quote
Big City Girl Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 My mate loves them, has them all the time. They're horrible. I tried them for one day, gave me the shakes and googly eyes. Like drugs but without the high. Quote
only1swanny Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 in a nutshell... If I don't replace the enrgy used. First start feeling weak and fatugued start sweating start to need the loo turn pale, start shaking and feel cold (which is by far the worst part) vision goes and start to feel tetchy normally i'll try and walk round because in the past I've sat down and passed out, stopped the cycling as it once happened about 15 miles away from home.. not good. been the the doctors and they've told me that its just my body struggling to deal with fluctuations in blood sugar levels, and it can be managed by diet, which in all fairness I am managing quite well,(stripped everything out) its purely that I want to up that so I can loose the weight around my stomach. The only stuff I can find online is glowing reports from people, and obv the people selling them won't mention the side effects. I'm already a grouchy moody fecker, so I don't really need anything to help with that... Quote
Whizz Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Cut Diddles 1 pound barms out and it will drop off. Lost over 5 stone since new year. Done this by doing at least 10k on crosstrainer 3 to 4 times a week. Just over 30 minutes. Not ate any shite takeaways or crap in general. Cereal or Boiled Eggs for breakfast. Ham Salad wrap or Tuna Pasta for dinner. Chicken, Salmon, with Pasta, Rice, Veg, Salad for tea. Perm any 3. And cut down drinking from virtually every night (a couple after work) to just being a dribbling mess at weekends. Still have a bit to get rid of. And still nowhere near a 6 pack. Onwards and Upwards. Quote
Bigtoe Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Have sex with Holly Johnson. You'll soon lose weight. Quote
gonzo Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Cut your carbs to basically nothing on your recovery day. Your body will burn fat instead of carbs if there is a limited supply In your body. You will feel a dip in energy at first but this will pass, replace the carbs with protein and this will provide your muscles with energy and the ability to recover from your training. Try and find a crossfit class or gym...it provides the perfect balance of cardio and muscle building. High protein low carbs.... It's the carbs that do it mate, loads of good carbs on your training day,non on your recovery day. Quote
barryk32 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 If you even think about the old no carbs I'm going on strike. We already have one nobhead at work that thought/thinks this is a good idea Quote
only1swanny Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 the no carbs thing is a no go, unless I have the carbs there to readily burn and replace them straight away, i'll go into shock, that's the problem I need to get round.. my body doesn't burn stored fat at the rate it should do, the orig question was if the t5's helped to transform the stored fat to energy, which they don't, they just remove the need to eat, which for me is pointless . Problem solved, i'll battle on. (off to the gym, arms back shoulders and chest today, and the obligatory crunches... Quote

kent_white Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Mate if you PM me your address I'll send you some really good information we use on diet at work. It's specifically tailored to suit most people's dietary needs, but especially people who are diabetic or at risk of diabetes. In other words, people who need to control their blood sugar levels. It's based around fruit veg and starchy carbs for exactly that reason. Talks a lot about balance and portion control. Fantastic bit of info and it's free. I'd also suggest booking an appointment for a HbA1c test with your GP. That can help tell you if there is something more going on rather than just feeling a bit ill on exercise. Anyway, if you want it, let me know and I'll send out to you what I can. Think it might be a big help. Quote
Maggie Tate Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Also consider replacing these calories/carbs with high carb low calorie foods. There are loads. Soup is excellent due to high water content. Also beetroot, asparagus, celeriac, celery, mushroom, onion, broccoli, most berries, fresh home-made fruit juices (shop bought will be too many calories), all sorts. Quote
