Big E Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Not so long ago he and Duckworth were taking almost half a million pounds a year out of the club in wages. That might be par for the course for as big an organisation as BWFC, but the fans are entitled to ask if he is really worth that much. I would hazard a guess that Gartside is pretty well connected in football and helped bring in the big names as well or do you really think people were just desperate to play for the guy who did well at notts county before jumping ship? I am not saying he has got everything right but I reckon it takes a lot more to run a club than just turn up on match days. People seem to question what people earn. Wages in football an high turnover business are high. Hell if you seem what they pay some folk in our game you would be scared Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 A couple of wins and all this hysteria and nonsense will disappear. Anyone would think it was April 2014 with just a few games left. Quote
snowball Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Knight & Wheater are haunting my every footballing thought at moment. Quote
Traf Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 . Thing is we fallen so far now under his guidance who is going to want to take it on. I'll have a crack at it for 100k a year. Quote
tomski Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Knight & Wheater are haunting my every footballing thought at moment.I still think there is hope for them 2 as a pairing. Granted I wanted them both gone like many yesterday. I saw enough against QPR to show signs of a partnership could work as in that game our defence played well. Everyone needs to get behind them and the team and hopefully Dougie can build the confidence to show Leeds what I believe we are capable in this division. COYWM! Quote

No I actually do think that Sam sold the club, firstly by turning around the whole backroom staff/sport science, bringing the success that moved us up the league and made us more attractive and turning round careers that needed it. Okocha/Djorkaeff didn't come in straight away, Sam built that up, got Speed in for example because he knew Sam could extend his career and then that helps with other players. Gartside's connections, don't make me laugh. What good did his connections do after he fell out with Sam? Downhill all the way to where we are now Quote
Big E Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Ok then so Gartside had absolutely nothing what so ever to do with the club being a success. Yet he is solely to blame for the position we are in now. Ok. I promise I will give up now. Absolutely no point trying to even defend the club / chairman when it is clear I am so very wrong. I appear to be wrong in my beliefs but give me a Gartside over a most in the country any day Quote
snowball Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I have never said he is solely to blame for anything. I just don't think he is worth what he is being paid. Being one of the least worst chairman isn't going to change my mind either. Quote
SatanGreavsie Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I'll go in at 99k then. But I bring no expertise to the role. I'll do it for £80k. First decision - build a branch of Rice'n'Easy opposite the east stand lower entrance. Oh and free buses from th'east midlands And I'd bring back the fireworks at the start, but cunningly launched directly at the opposition fans while "Fire" by Arthur Brown blares out on the tannoy. Oh and strippers at half time, who then deliver pints to your seat. Or to the directors box at least. Quote

Carlos Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 (edited) Gartside did the dirty on Hargreaves to take over the club Unfortunately just after Hargreaves awarded himself the contract to build the hotel? Then sell his worthless company for millions? That Hargreaves? Edited September 3, 2013 by Carlos Quote

snowball Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Yes that one. The one that also had such a good relationship with Rioch and oversaw the move to the Reebok, without which we wouldn't have had so much success in the Premier League & Europe. But of course he was all bad and Gartside is squeaky clean? Quote
RUREADY2ROLL Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Lenny Lawrence would make a good Director of Football... So he doesn't get shown sitting on the bench looking clueless? Quote

SatanGreavsie Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Rice'n'Easy. Magic memories. Chip barm and jumbo sausage (sounds like two American golfers?) at 1 minute to 3 then mad dash into the ground. I remember at the height of the mad cow scare asking the fat lass serving what was in the the sausage. "I no fucking idea; next prease" was her answer Quote

They've both made fucking millions, at least Garty worked for it. How the fuck you can defend Hargreaves is utterly beyond me. Quote

Guest Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Gartside did the dirty on Hargreaves to take over the club, he couldn't have any complaints if someone did the same to him. Thing is we fallen so far now under his guidance who is going to want to take it on. How did he do the dirty? The club was about to go out of business! Quote
