Dear God.

I don't deny anybody's right to their opinion, I just feel he's venting his spleen at the wrong person, there's certainly a few individuals I'd love a rant towards at the moment, Dougie is not one, he's a victim of circumstance at the moment, granted there's some mistakes he's made, but I still think he'll come good. I still think he'll learn by his mistakes if he has the strength of his convictions.

I hope that screeching bint watches this clip, that'll be the mirror with which to view the real embarrassment there.

We did 'get one in'. He's currently playing at right back because Dougie got rid of Ricketts. Three of his other signings started on the bench yesterday, including a player he spent the best part of £1M on.

I don't claim to know what happened with Ricketts, but he's a better defender than any of the five we used yesterday.

Got back from my Brighton weekend an hour ago. Time to think on the trains.

We were a recently relegated squad of underperforming but experienced players. Why was inexperienced DF appointed manager ?

What were set as DF's performance targets ?

How long is he allowed in order to achieve those targets ?
Is further relegation (or more than one) accepted as a potential price we might have to pay ?

What's ED's & PG's financial big plan ?

Without knowing the answers to those questions, everything else is speculation & rumour. I'll settle for the pint. I'm well past getting angry or depressed.

Just one other point. From memory we went to Brighton on 1st September 1979 as a 1st division (as was) club and lost 1-3 to a newly promoted Brighton. 8 years later we were in Division 4, and it took a further 8 years to be back in the top flight. History has a nasty habit of repeating itself.

It's ok saying give him a few more games, I cannot see any signs it will improve.

We have been OK for periods of many games

If we can secure a win, it can turn around, as it did last season

BUT

I can see where you are coming from

For me I think we would should stick by him for this season at least, the players are good enough just lacking in confidence one win hopefully on Saturday will help build that confidence then we can go on a bit of a run like we did at the end of last season.

Im in the bit more time camp. Until mid November. Reevaluate then.

I dont see why everyone is so anti Pulis, did a cracking job at Stoke. I couldnt give a fuck what type of football is played at the moment as long as its winning football

Posted

Stick with him for god sake please - he needs to think long and hard about his tinkering to mind.

If Pulis were to come in and I doubt that very very much after his pal Megsons reign then I'd shed a tear I think but I'd still dust myself down and get to the match

I say give him at least this season, he might not be the messiah but theres nobody out there better who would be willing to come.

Lets accept we are not going up so hopefully lets do enough to finish comfortably mid-table and rebuild right the way through the club. Teams who chop and change manager with regularity usually end up in the financial shite and a division or 2 lower than we are now

You've either got to back him or sack him. Giving him 'a little more time' is just dodging the issue.

Why? Isn't it perfectly rational to say he should get more time but not necessarily put a longer timeframe on it now? It changes week by week. Two wins and he'd definitely get much longer. Lose to Yeovil and it is an entirely different complexion.

I don't see any point in not backing him as the next manager would have less in terms of everything that DF has now

Apart from points??!!

There's nothing rational about that. He's been here for a year, that's long enough to form an opinion. If you can see some sort of long term plan, then why would you want to judge him on the next few games? If not, why would you persist with him?

I back him.

Let's all admit that promotion this year is now not going to happen and even if a miracle occurred, it would scare me to death being back in the prem with this squad.

So

He has this season. I remain certain we will not get relegated. I'm also certain that somewhere in the murky depths of these players' minds, there is a decent squad waiting to get going. Call me daft, but I'm still sure that everyone at the club wants to succeed. These are, after all, people who are scaling the loftier heights of their chosen profession. You don't get there without the will to win.

Just think, when (not if) we turn this around, the squad will emerge stronger for the experience. There is probably some sort of tipping point due behind closed doors after which the club can shake this shittyness off and start winning again.

From what I've seen, Freedman is still trying to discover which players have the bollocks for the fight. He's getting closer to knowing with every game so to get rid now would be madness.

We go with what we have and keep fingers crossed that these well paid professionals know better than a load of pisspots and keyboard shaggers what to do about it.

Do you think we would keep the same squad if we went up? Never understood this attitude of being scared of going up.

Other than that agree with much of it.

You're not a plum like plenty on here, but don't patronise me.

Going up and having to buy a new squad would of course be a waste of time.

It's a plain as a Hungarian shot putter that we need to build.

And edit quicker :D

Defo need to rebuild. Its probably the first time I can remember not being arsed if we lost any of this team. Always had my favourites but would be open to selling any of them to finance a new team.
