Seabiscuit Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Got them promoted in his first season then a mid table finish in the top flight. We'd all be ecstatic with Freedman if he achieved that in his first two seasons at Bolton. As it is, half way through his second season we are 18th in Div 2. Quote
jules_darby Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) Got them promoted in his first season then a mid table finish in the top flight.Yeah shocking Only the deluded West Ham Essex boy nobbers think that's not good enough for the World Cup wankers It was like when he took Newcastle to their best Prem league start in umpteen years and was seen as a failure Perception and all that Edited January 11, 2014 by jules_darby Quote

bgoefc Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) to be honest i felt a lot of sympathy for Sam when all the BSA haters came out of the closet this week on talk sport and the rest of the media. Their day has come. These are the ones that hated our relative success and their bitterness has been lingering. Its sad to see so many jilted bolton fans joining their ranks, but thats their choice. Snowball also gets a +1 from me for his spot on earlier post. Edited January 11, 2014 by bgoefc Quote
jonnycooper Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 In different circumstances. Pretty identical circumstances really! Take over at a club that has just been relegated from the PL and take said club back to Promised Land! One achieved it,the other failed....Seemples. Quote
Casino Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 nolan was on 70k a fcuking week in division 2 id have got them promoted Quote
Seabiscuit Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Would you be able to do better than having 20 points less than Burnley? If so Davies should take you on. Quote

hughmungus Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 He sold eider and jenson first Sumer out of choice then Good point Glos, some people on here have short memories, and don't forget Fish and Frandsen had left as well due to money Quote
MalcolmW Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 He sold eider and jenson first Sumer out of choice then Eidur was ready for the Premier League. He would not have been a happy bunny to have stayed - and maybe there was a gentlemen's agreement to let him go if we failed to go up. Similar comments may apply to Jensen. He had won the frirst of his forty-odd senior caps in the second tier, but clearly he wanted top class football to cement his claim for a World Cup place. Quote

You don't get the price you think they are worth, you get what someone is prepared to pay. If only one club expresses serious interest what they offer is the best available. Quote

glossopWANDERER Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) We had to sell our best players back then due to the clubs finances, similar to now. fortunately then some of our players could attract big ish transfer fees. Sam went out and brought in players in on the cheep who were a success such as Ricketts, Hendry, Charlton, Barness and Farrely to name a few along with bringing thru youth in Nolan and jussi. Freedman has not had anywhere close to the same impact. In time he might but I can't say I think he will. Edited January 11, 2014 by glossopWANDERER Quote

Only because our current top earners aint worth anywhere near their weekly wage and are worth buttons in transfer fees. If we had anyone comparable to Frandsen, Blake, Jensen, Gudjohnsen they'd have gone by now. Successive managers have saddled us with very expensive dross, it's DF's job to sort it. bolton va va Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 If he wasn't able to produce results with the existing players he shouldn't have been appointed. Freedman did produce results with the existing squad by saving us from the (second ) relegation that Coyle was taking us to. Quote
