i always thought that loans worked by:

 

if a player is worth say 9million, with 3 years on his contract, to loan him for 1 year is equivalent to 1 year of his worth, so 3mil loan fee + a percentage of wages

 

younger players wont be worth as much so would come out cheaper because they go back with experience
