Danny G Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Its quite a Good watch. Burnham and Kendall seem more right wing than David Cameron, Cooper is a Blairite. Corbyn is some bonkers Left Winger. Burnham comes across very well. Quote
Danny G Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Kendall comes across even better. Fuck me I may even vote for these lot next time Quote
Moderators Carlos Posted June 17, 2015 Moderators Posted June 17, 2015 Cameron must be watching this and pissing himself. Quote
gonzo Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I really like Burnham but can't imagine anyone south of Watford voting for him. Quote
MalcolmW Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Please refer to Cooper as Mrs Balls (and Harman as Mrs Dromey). Quote
Salford Trotter Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 This lot will be in the political wilderness for a decade Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted June 18, 2015 Site Supporter Posted June 18, 2015 As labour have changed their voting system, loads of Tories have paid their three quid and voted for Corbyn. Could be a laugh Quote

Moderators Carlos Posted June 18, 2015 Moderators Posted June 18, 2015 That was my thought, you only need to register as a supporter, it is the ultimate troll. And it shows how out of touch the Labour Party is, that this wasn't immediately obvious to them. Quote
no balls Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Corbin to be the next leader? The exit poll says so. Massive lollage Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Why? Surely it's in the nation's best interests to have a strong opposition whatever your personal inclinations are? I'd genuinely never heard of him, then I saw a picture somewhere and recognised him as the bloke on Question Time a few weeks previous, if he's elected it's further proof that, like some jazz musicians, some, most of the political class are doing this purely for their own enjoyment, it's like openly wanking to whatever floats your boat, or sommat like that. Politicians enjoy their playing far more than anyone listened does. I haven't been drinking, yet (nor am I going to be drinking to comiserate, I don't support Labour) Quote
gonzo Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 If they go far that left, that's them dead and buried. They must be fookin mental. Quote
Moderators Carlos Posted July 22, 2015 Moderators Posted July 22, 2015 I've had a think, he's a Labour man, he isn't so fucking ridiculous, it's the party that's so fucking ridiculous. I can only just remember Callaghan, since then the public haven't wanted this lefty shit, which is why Blair had to reinvent them. Turning the clocks back ain't gonna work. Quote

And it shows how out of touch the Labour Party is, that this wasn't immediately obvious to them. Ed Miliband's great idea. You can just see them thinking it all out round a kitchen table in Islington. Now we must have one person, one vote and there are many Labour supporters out there who can't afford the full membership fee and they should have a voice. Let's allow folk to pay £3 and then they can vote to choose a new leader, just like that. The fact that they couldn't think it through and predict what would happen shows why they should be allowed nowhere near governing the country. Quote
gonzo Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Same applies for the right though, with the Enoch Powell/Maggie Thatcher bollocks. The middle is where's it at. Quote
Site Supporter Winchester White Posted July 22, 2015 Site Supporter Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Corbin never in a million years thought he would be near the leadership battle. But it is not totally surprising really after the disaster of Milliband. Edited July 22, 2015 by Winchester White Quote
kent_white Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Isn't the idea of politics that you vote for who you would like in principle rather than who you think has the best chance of getting elected? I actually think that a more radical, coherent voice on the left would do this country the power of good. Quote
Moderators Carlos Posted July 22, 2015 Moderators Posted July 22, 2015 I love the phrase "bearded voter-repellent". Quote

I hope for the country's sake that it's Corbyn! I "fear" for Labour if it is, though Quote
Members bolty58 Posted July 23, 2015 Members Posted July 23, 2015 I actually think that a more radical, coherent voice on the left would do this country the power of good. I read that 14 times to be sure it didn't sound like a piss take. The more I think about it though - you are correct. A more radical voice on the left would do the country a power of good. The majority of folk would never vote for a radical lefty so the country would be all the better for it. Cheers pal. Quote

I think there is a genuine appetite for an alternative. Although perhaps not amongst the great and the good of WW. I was broadly supportive of the last administration - like I said at the time, they were a necessary evil and I think the Lib Dems acted as a useful social handbrake. Unfortunately that handbrake has now been removed and we're now about to head off the cliff. In a few years time there is going to be a great deal of unrest and unease and that would create a lovely little niche for a genuine left winger. Be careful what you wish for Bolty old bean! Personally - I'd still prefer Andy Burnham providing he sticks to his principles, but the early signs aren't too promising. Quote
gonzo Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 I like Andy Burnham but he won't win a vote south of the thelwall viaduct. That's the issue with him. Mind it seems its Scotland where it's won and lost. Labour get rid of the SNP and they are back in power next time IMO. Sounds easy. Quote

As the Conservatives have an overall majority that is patently untrue. It may happen, and it may be a major factor in Labour regaining power if they do, but it cannot alone change anything. Quote
