August 1, 20224 yr 1 1/2 hour wait at Bolton Station because a woman decided to sit on the tracks this afternoon. About 6 trains stuck in and around the station in both directions. Took about 8 police (eventually) to remove her.

I was stuck at horwich park way waiting for airport train, Got on airport train 40 minutes late, pulled the train at Oxford road, just jumped on the 16-13 which is also late… hope the queues aren’t to bad at mcr.

August 5, 20224 yr Just back from a shopping trip into town. The shopping trip involved my wife shopping while I parked myself in the Vaults before she joined me to share a drink. There was a good singer on who asked for requests. I obviously requested a song for me and my good wife. After saying he didn’t do it, he then surprised us and gave a great rendition of ‘My Girl’ (Temptations) The Town Centre is what you make it. It’s our town. Use it or lose it. This post is for the people of Bolton.

His answer of 'Boltonians' caused quite a furore apparently. Good Knee. Good lad who frequents these parts from time to time. Now then, the elephants. What a fucking welcome home that was. The plan - off the train at Trinity St, over the walkway bridge (gone) to Great Moor St to see the elephants (gone) outside The Wheatsheaf (gone).Quick pint of Boddies in t'Prince Bill will make up for the disappointment (gone). Fuck it - walk down by Prestons (gone) to Bank St Taxis (gone). Reet then, 507 up Tonge Moor Rd, swift pint of Twats in the Starkie (gone). That's it. Stay on 507 and see if the No Name is still there with good ale and proper Bolton folk. Bingo! A fucking win. Proper beer with proper Boltonians in a proper pub. Thankful for small mercies.

First problem was missus wanting a toilet. Ended up in the Marketplace vaults after trying a number of places. The bus station expect you to pay FFS! Newport Street - as I don't speak Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian or Urdu it only needed tents and I would have believed I was in Calais. The outskirts of Bolton are magnificent. Wildlife, countryside etc. up there with the best. The centre is a cesspit which wants knocking down and redeveloping but we all know that won't happen. Bury is miles ahead of us for a reason. I always bollock the missus when she tells people in Oz we are from 'near Manchester'. I am beginning to see why she does it. Ashamed of what was once a proud town which people travelled for miles to do their shopping in.

August 8, 20224 yr I've not had reason to go into the centre since we left Burnden. Nearest I've got (apart from a couple of ventures to the outskirts for reasons which escape me) is when i had to come up to take me old mam stuff in hospital and then a respite halfway house place a bit back. But the thing is, I remember ages back (but deffo at least a few years after the ground move) reading a national press article lauding the future of the town centre. I remember it making me comment to others down here that the town is booming and on a nice new track. I was genuinely chuffed - I remember that. Fast forward...what went wrong?
