I wonder if the BBC will eventually get round to a semblance of balance by having someone on who either knows Trump, or even supports him. I am not generally for BBC-bashing, but it's been pisspoor since it was evident he was going to win.

 

 

Even as results were coming in, BBC were repeatedly insisting that Trump couldn't win without Florida, when the reality was that he could (and would have done).

There was a woman on Radio 4 this morning who had been chief engineer on the Trump Tower project. At least she knew him as someone who could delegate, even if she did eventually fall out with him.

I am not generally for BBC-bashing, but it's been pisspoor since it was evident he was going to win. Newsnight even played The Fool On The Hill by The Beatles to open one piece about him. Pathetic. An entire panel prattled on about his foreign policy for about half an hour and not one of them knew him or had ever had to deal with him, let alone support him. Paul Merton made a joke about shooting him on Have I Got News For You and the crowd loved it. Had he said the same about Osama bin Laden he'd have been pilloried.

I suppose part of the problem is that nobody knows his (on a political level at least) on account of the fact that he's never held a public office. They did interview plenty of grass root supporters and examine the reasons for his popularity.

 

I take your point about aspects of the coverage though. I'm of the firm opinion that music on the news is without fail a bad idea.

I listened to it in the morning between 6 and 7:30ish, and there were plenty of Trump supporting callers. Maybe you should have phoned in to address the imbalance you perceived?

Even the BBC earlier had a woman on explaining that Trump's threats will be putting serious concerns in the minds of the EU hierarchy. This may well in turn strengthen Britain's brexit hand as the EU won't be able to adopt such a hardline stance.

Trump's a cunt but he's in now. No point folk panicking until we see something concerning. Just carry on and see what plays out.
