First half was dire but we have that nack of finding a way to win at the moment.

Much better second half - not quite sure how Woolery missed that same chance 3 times - but I've not seen it replayed yet. Saying that - he did well when he came on - as did Wilkinson which was a pleasant surprise.

Gary Madine looked absolutely shagged after about 60 minutes - like walking around with his hands on his hips tackle. Not sure what's going on there.

Wheater and Spearing joint MOM for me. Excellent stuff. Like Howard in nets as well. He's only slightly taller that Jay Spearing but he comes for everything.

To be fair to Madine, he put in a proper shift on Wednesday night so I'll forgive him for being knackered after another decent performance today.

Never thought I'd ever be writing the above...!

Think PP's worked out his stamina is limited and said to him put yourself about as much as poss for 70 mins or so then somebody else will do the last 20.

Does the Northern Soul avatar hint at a penchant for all things Wigan? :)

Apart from the football team, yes.

Each to their own I suppose!

People booing are bellends by the way. No matter how crap we were in the first half.

Why?

There's folk out there that have put up with shite for years now & are still turning up! because it's their town & their team, their passion, their pride.

They're pissed off maybe? They're frustrated? & understandably so!

Players, managers, owners, come & go, yet they still turn up! Week in, week out, season in, season out!

There's a set of people that can stop those negativities, those angers & frustrations!

It's not something that's going to change over night, I wish folk would stop blaming the fans all the time.

There's a positive vibe coming back again & long may it continue, though it's not going to be perfect from day one, not everyone can start with a clean slate season in season out, like some dumb sheep.

Leave them to it, let them turn to the positive when those that can effect that change can continue to produce the goods on a consistent basis.

You can't expect 4 years of shite to be washed away by 4 games!!!

Sick of fans being blamed all the time, fans of decades, players, managers & owners are to blame. They're the ones to affect the change because they're the ones that have got us here.

New manager, fine.

New owners, good.

Same players, not great.

The first half today made me worried, there were too many similarities of failure from the usual suspects that have us playing these buggers today.

Thankfully, it was sorted out at half time for a change & we march on again.

There's still plenty of work to do & next week will be more of a challenge than the last few have been, with the first half attitude we'll lose. With the second half attitude we may have a chance

Long may the wins keep coming, by the good, the bad or the ugly, but don't blame the fans for having little patience left, the players need to change that & in the first half they were severely lacking!

Anyhoo

COYFWM!

We are top 'o the league, we are top o' the league!

Booing at half time.

We have some absolute fucking retards in our stadium. They're the Smithills Gent type who obviously get the fuck kicked out of them by their wives when they get home and have to clean the kitchen floor with a toothbrush.

The ridiculous cunts

not quite sure how Woolery missed that same chance 3 times

He didn't. It was Mark Davies who missed the 3rd and easiest chance.

Mark Davies owned that second half.

This.

Last season, after getting booked he would have disappeared for the rest of the game.

He looked a totally differant player today.

Long may it continue.

Madine has definately found his level.

His first touch is like a one yard pass but in this division he can get away with it.

Lets hope we are all just as positive next saturday at 5 oclock.

Mark davies had his one decent game of the season.

Spearing, wheater and beevers are immense.

Who else shit a brick when howard dropped the ball in the dying seconds? Fuck me, its never easy!!

Four games

Four wins

Four times I've got rat arsed celebrating.

Jesus, rough.

just a slight hamstring pull for clough, which is good.

i thought he looked lively yesterday, and seems to have been working on his strength.

onward and upward

It's good that we are finally getting some productivity from Davies, but he should be a class above at this level. If he can't stand out in league 1 he might as well fuck it off. Hopefully he can consistently be productive this season.

Exactly. They were booed off all last season. Only made things worse.

Booing. Boo

At the risk of sounding like an imbecile, I think booing has different contexts. Yesterday's booing was a boo of frustration whereas last seasons booing was a get out of our club and never come back type of booing. There always has been and always will be booers and moaners, it's the way it is.

If that is true, not sure it is, there are some people who are intent on blaming certain players no matter what happens,

But if it is true it just adds to the idea that it is just unhelpful, how do players know what type of booing it is ?

One thing that clearly has changed at the club is the idea that as soon as we concede the game is over, the change second half was excellent, I think we have conceded first in 3 games this season and won them all, so hopefully we start to see that affect people's attitudes, a goal galvanising the players and fans rather than white flags from the players and despair from the fans.

I think our support is holding up really well, 750 to Bristol midweek is excellent, home gates very good, if that spirit and the improved attitude on the pitch combine it massively improves our chances of this bring a one year stay.

There is a long way to go and some worries amongst the positives ( injuries especially) but no one expected such a positive start, even against recently promoted teams, but Fleetwood I think were unbeaten themselves before yesterday so let build from here.

Upwards and onwards.

Agree with that, he seems to have bulked up over the summer. Same can be said with Madine.

Fleetwood were the best team we've played so far & with money behind them, I wouldn't be surprised if they finish up as promotion contenders, which makes this a great win that was deserved in the end.

Spearing M-O-M, but everyone played their part.....oddly, Clough's injury might have helped us because I thought Woolery's pace caused them more problems than Clough had.

Slight worries that with Proctor injured & the 2 glassbacks, Clayton & Clough missing again, we're a bit thin on forward options, & that we're crying out for a decent winger to give us some attacking width but i totally back PP's priority in building the team from the defence first.

Roll on Charlton & 5 out of 5 !!!!!

Just looking at those highlights again how Mark Davies didn't score is beyond me. Thought the miss looked bad at the game. Seemed to hit at the keepers legs rather than just rolling it either side.

Agreed, couldn't believe we hadn't scored at the time. Still think the same now.

Our highlights are so much better than the sky / Channel 5 stuff. "Right that's enough about (team X) let's talk more about Newcastle." "Team X's manager will be pleased, but what will Newcastle's manager be thinking?", "Team X (Bolton) have won all four games with a 100% record, let's talk about Newcastle." I wish they would cut out the presenters and so called pundits and just show more detailed highlights of all the games. The pundits only say what you have just seen!

To be fair to Davies though that was excellent work from their keeper to block 3 shots on the spin.

Didn't Jussi do summert similar away at Hull?

Cheers Burnden. Cracking was that.

It's so good being able to say that Bolton are top of the league!

Come on boys, let's make it 5/5 next week! WAAAAAAANDERERS!
