We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Our form with Vic and Charles up top was pretty decent. They seemed to work well together.

Only because Cogley was getting down the line and whipping balls into the box even vic couldn’t miss from 3 yards out at the start of the season

never realised Vic played 46 times this season. felt like he missed more

Evatt has spent around £1.8 million on Collins, Charles, Victor and Dan, just saying.

We obviously knew what he was worth, which is why we didn't sign him.

We could have done with him running the midfield at Wembley though. We “obviously” thought we already had enough in midfield so we didn’t push the boat out to get the Aussie international enforcer.

Goals haven't been the issue, it's stopping them at the other end that has..

It didn't feel like that to me.  In the 2nd half of the season, if we could have got a few more points from away games at Wigan and Derby (0-1), Stevenage (0-0), Northampton (1-1), Orient (0-1), plus Pompey (1-1) and Shrewsbury (2-2) we would have walked promotion.  And Oxford last week. We couldn't score enough goals, we didn't have enough shots with any purpsose.

We've scored a shed load of goals this season but a fair quota of them have been of less importance, flat track bullies filling our boots on those nights against Exeter, Oxford, Reading. We've fallen short by not creating enough (Stevenage) or not taking enough chances in those pivotal games. Last Sat's no show the worst example of all.

Should've bought Alfie May instead of Victor and/or Dan.

Its wide of the mark IMO to suggest we were signing a proven scorer, and that we simply failed to play to his strengths.  Before he came here he'd scored 19 goals in 5 or 6 years for Barnsley, Bristol R, Cambridge and Burton.  129 games, so around 1 in 6.5 games (obviously he's improved on that since he came here, now 32 in 180 if my maths are right, so 1 in 6ish).

Yes he had a purple patch for Burton from Sep to Dec 2022, scoring 9 league goals (incl a hat-trick v FGR) and 2 pens.  Maybe those 9 goals prompted IE to shell out half a million, it can't have been based on his previous record, and he's hardly a stand out footballer generally (unlike Collins on his day).

Whatever system we play, we need better IMO, and if we get anything like our money back it will be great to spend it elsewhere.

I think you’ll find that at Barnsley and previously he was played as a winger it was only when he went to Burton that they moved him to striker which kind of proves my point that that is where he’s best deployed. Evatt signed him as a striker but then instead of playing him in a similar role has attempted to get him to fit his system not his previous one. It’s the same as Dapo who IE tried in several positions to fit him in rather than leave him to do what he’s best at and trying to turn Sadlier into a wing back and Toal into a LCB where he struggles. Just sign round pegs for round holes it’s surely not difficult?

Having only Bod and Collins with Jerome off the bench for a large portion of the season is to blame for that. Obviously chuck in a few unfit varieties later on.

Said it a million times but Charles starts at Derby we win.

Oh how shit!

Scoring goals in a similar manner to Lineker for example.

The age old method of width, crosses and goals by a centre forward.

You seem to be trying to find a way to lodge criticism, but pick the very thing that he can't be criticised on.

Alfie May cones from East London. He was determined to 'go home'. He signed for Charlton. Joining Bolton was never on his agenda. You may as well say we should be signing Mbappe.

Now, limited success with Vic & total confusion over signing Dan are quite different matters.

Really? I never knew that.

Caveman little clubber.

We should've just made him sign.

Absolutely, to keep being in place for tap in goals is a skill in itself needing timing, instinct, the ability to get across defenders, whatever. Charles & Vic both have it which is why even if they miss chances, they'll get more.

& Vic would have had more goals last season but many times he made the run but the cross wasn't put in 1st time (usually by the wing backs )....taking an extra touch or turning back takes the striker out of the game.

Exactly, hold them hostage in the hotel until they sign a pay per play contract. Everyone knows this.

Would rather have you up front instead of Llundlu.

He probably would if he'd known about our Nando's
