May 19, 20242 yr According to Nixon, we're in for Louie Moulden on a free transfer Presumably as a back-up goalkeeper

May 20, 20242 yr If we sign ashworth I think I give up. Didn’t play him so why sign him permanently. Just like when Nlundulu did nothing in his loan and then we wasted money on him. our recruitment processes appear baffling at times
May 20, 20242 yr I think this Ashworth thing is bollocks, especially with evatts comments about considering his future etc and its from nixon

May 20, 20242 yr Not taking any notice of any of these snippets about who we're supposed to be in for till we know what's happening with Evatt and who's being released as well as being sent back. Couple of places last week supposedly linking us with Luke Thomas at Leicester but I'd have assumed it was based on us going up, if there was anything in it at all

May 20, 20242 yr I quite liked Ashworth. Looked decent, and we've certainly become more leaky since he disappeared, together with a post-injury Santos, and a right footer at left centre-back. Not sure he'd want to sign though! And as above- we don't even know if Evatt will be here, so signings must be up in the air.
May 20, 20242 yr This talk of having a list of potential signings for L1 and another list for the championship... if true, and another manager comes in, how does that work? Here's a 3 year contract Mr Rowett/Nolan/Neil, and by the way we've got a list of players you can pick from. Forget all the contacts you've made over the years, ex players you know you can rely on that you might like to sign, we think we know better. For that reason and the fact that we already have a big squad of players under contract, there's no way he's getting the push. I think the most likely scenario is this time next year or as soon as promotion is out of our grasp, when most of the current squad will be coming to the end of their contracts, and a clean slate/fresh start will be a lot smoother/cheaper.

Aye I'm starting to get the feeling he stays, with a rallying call of a statement from SB sooner rather than later this week, but you never know. Problem with play offs is you lose a couple of weeks on other clubs already getting into doing their business so we'll be potentially missing out on targets by the day.
May 20, 20242 yr God's fault 😃 Fair enough, move on he was never going to be turning out for us again in L1
May 20, 20242 yr Decent but will be no Bradley. For some reason he faded badly in most games after being the best player for a 20 or thirty min spell Pretty sure he will end up somewhere like Watford or Luton next season

I wouldn't be concerned about that, there will be loads of transfers done in July/August and not many before. And loan signings only tend to happen later in the window when Prem/Champ teams have decided who's surplus. We've got about 17 outfield players under contract if I'm not mistaken, all of them 1st team squad regulars, if we didn't make one signing we'd have a team good enough to start the season, and the rest of August to get a few more in. Not going up has made the transfer window a lot less stressful - there, that's a positive to take from Saturday 😀
May 20, 20242 yr All we can hope for if he stays he either changes the system or brings players with guts and determination to play his system I live in hope !
May 20, 20242 yr Wish him well. Deserves a shot at the championship. Pleased if we get Ashworth back. Pretty sure a fee was agreed back when. There won’t be wholesale changes. Nor should there be. Starting to think I’ll not get the change I want. Start to wonder whether the board are too invested in him and can’t see what they should.

Whilst there seems to be a great dynamic between Evatt, Markham and Sharron and the board that also breeds a huge amount of loyalty. Evatt has apparently shown it a few times by turning offers down so it’s easy to see how it would work the other way too. Whether that loyalty can be seen as weakness is another thing though.. there’d be many an owner who would probably take the “harder” decision to give him the boot. FWIW I think he’ll take some time away then decide to give it another go. But if it doesn’t start well can see him out the door early on.
