Mounts Kipper Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 I don’t think I’d be using a space in my squad for Jerome and I’d have one eye on shipping Victor out. Quote
Mantra Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 (edited) The Bolton boss said: “The cat is out of the bag, football and secrets don’t really go well together! “As far as where we are right now, it is close. It is very close. But it is not done yet and what I’ve learned in this game is until it is absolutely done and finalised, not to count my chickens. We will not be doing any of that over the weekend.” He added: “He is multi-functional, multi-dimensional. He can play wide, he can play up front, he can play as a No. 8 or No. 10. “He brings the ability to dribble and drive past defenders, to receive centrally in tight spaces and create. “I think that is something we haven’t had, so he adds lots of things. He is a player who I have admired for three years – ever since that season in League Two. “It has now become achievable for us and hopefully we can get it finalised and over the lines.” https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/23673622.bolton-wanderers-closing-deal-luton-attacker-gomes/ Edited July 22, 2023 by Mantra Quote
gonzo Posted July 22, 2023 Posted July 22, 2023 Spent all afternoon at poolfoot. The lad is very highly thought of. Most said he gets you off your seat. One coach said he can dissappear in games but then will do summet magic out of nowhere. Keeps the ball well and a cracking shot it seems. Quote
Wanderlust Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Midfielder Justin Barrasin from Maribor has been linked to us on Twatter - allegedly at the Salford game. Probably utter bullshit and I've never heard of the bloke before, but I know Maribor as they're a top Slovenian team and occasionally rock up in the UEFA and CL to get battered by the more familiar names - so roughly Championship standard. It's probably a wind up, but if there is any truth in it I would be impressed with the scouting - I've often thought we don't cast our recruitment net wide enough so targeting someone in the Slovenian Prva (premier) League would be impressive. This sounds word for word like IE is describing Dapo! And maybe even Sadlier. We couldn't fit them into the system, players with non-defined positions have tended to fall between 2 (or 3) stools, so it will be interesting to see where Mendez Gomez settles into a role. Looks like a good player who can shoot which is exactly what we need so let's get him in and find him a position to call his own. Quote

Dapo was tried in every position possible, he just didnt have the attitude or willingness to adapt and it never worked. As for Sadiler, hes shite. No idea why hes still at the club. Quote

BWFC_LOVE Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Sadlier has scored nine goals for us, and I’m sure he’s chipped in with a few assists despite limited game time too. There’s no doubt he’s capable of making an impact. I can only presume he doesn’t do enough in certain areas for Evatt’s liking (IE used to say similar about Darcy), or simply doesn’t fit into our system. He’s certainly looked better coming off the bench. I’d like to see him get a proper chance playing behind Charles, although I do think he is probably best suited out wide. He left Rotherham complaining about not getting enough game time and only playing as a wingback when called upon. Deja vu for that mon. Quote

Johnnyrotten Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 The Sadlier debate has been done many times, I rate him as no worse than many others who played regularly last season but I get that he doesn’t fit into our system, and if others think he’s shite fair enough. I was making the point that players that don’t have a defined position have generally struggled to hold down a regular place, they may be used as subs who can fill in multiple attacking positions when we need a goal. Of course he’s the type of player that gets subbed because if you’re winning, which Orient usually were, he’s not adding a lot defensively. If any of our attacking players excluding Bradley had gone to Orient on loan I’d be surprised if they’d got more minutes. Quote

radcliffe white Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 Think vic will have the spotlight on him due to being a replacement for dapo & also with us paying a fee (first for a while wasn’t he) Same goes for dan who did very little in a loan period but we paid a fee & also got a 3 year deal out of Quote

Not saying much I know, but none of then have ripped up trees. Describing him as shit - we may as well refer to a fair number of the squad as shit then. Maybe we need to lay off them all whilst they're still here. Quote
