We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Very good mate. Great band.

Not my cup of tea, but they’re touring Bring It On next year, aren’t they?

And? It's a contract negotiated by the club. A massive fuck up, yet folk are queueing up to know us whenever we sell someone.

And...... it explains the difference between the price of both players deals which was the conversation.

Shows our current board are actually quite savvy

I still maintain that any figure north of £3m was bloody good business for Holding at the time of sale.

He has improved massively for the move and yes, he's worth far more now, but as a veteran of just 20 games in the Championship's worst defence?

Aye thanks just had a look. Albert Hall Manc in May - sold out. Liverpool available.

While the sale of Holding was vital to keeping us afloat, it still irks me that Grant fucking Hanley went for £5m in the same window.

Blackburn have sold some dog shit players for ridiculous amounts of money over the years

Indeed, how someone could pay twice as much for an experienced International, as someone else did for an inexperienced youngster. Fucking bonkers.

Ironically, if we hadn't been in the shit finacially, Holding may never have got the chance in our first team, and ended up at Kilmarnock on a free, due to us signing someone like Hanley.

Same applies to vela

If he hadn’t had played those 10 or so matches at right back he would have been gone.

Without financial constraints we’d have signed a Lewis Buxton or a Danny butter field as per usual

Lewis Buxton looked like he'd never played the game in his life.

Re clough

Got thinking about cloughs career before.

Appreciate the ‘he wasn’t that good’ brigade.

However I then remembered his debut v Wigan

And the sudden emergence of him starting

His performance at home v Liverpool and winning the penalty

His return from injury and bagging one (or 2) in a key match.

His run of form in League 1. Free kick against Rochdale or Oldham or whenever it was. That lob finish against some random team. Bury away winning and converting 2 pens.

Underappreciated and too quickly forgot.

Exactly - used correctly (and in our set up not sure we can) he is miles better than what we have at moment

yep

no world beater, but certainly the best we'd had for quite some time, one to genuinely get "excited" about, and someone likely to score or create something - averaged 1 in 3 and probably had similar assists, be a while before we unearth another like him I'd have thought

no good out wide though

(the lob was against Coventry)

His touch sets him apart from most we have had

His problem is his size imo

You need to be stronger if you are small

Maybe that's something he can still work on

Spot on. For a change????

That one he stuck in off underside of the bar, curled in, who was it?

Think it may have done him good to be somewhere where the competition & quality around him is stronger... and it's a fair bet Forest have worked on his physique.

Don’t know why but think one day he will come back.

QPR?

That’s the one

He played left side where Armstrong plays two players chalk & cheese I prefer Clough as his touch & vision are superior plus set piece delivery .Only downside is his durability .On balance it would be great to get him back on loan.

Lad at Hereford, John Mills, scoring record is ridiculously good. Around a goal a game for over a hundred goals.

A few leagues down, but worth a look?

Brighton sniffing around Vela according to paper aswel as 2 championship clubs
