December 11, 20178 yr It would be a shame to see him go because he came through the youth - but for me - he's much more easily replaceable than either Clough or Holding. Mainly with Josh Vela you'd be buying workrate. If we get anything upward of 2 million for him I'd be pleasantly surprised. Will Hughes is twice the player JV will ever be.

December 11, 20178 yr I think Vela is absolutely pivotal to us. Yes, he should perhaps get into more goalscoring positions. However, as much as Henry has given us some bite in the middle, Vela’s harrying has been glossed over for me, and has been just as important. That high tempo and pressure was lacking massively in his absence early in the season. With him pressing teams high up the pitch, the pressure is relieved in behind. Without his energy, teams would definitely have the ball more in our half. See Brentford, just before he returned. He, along with Ameobi/Armstrong have also offered a lot more support to Madine, compared to early in the season when he was completely isolated. Is the argument against him that he should offer more support? Maybe. I’m not going to complain if anyone leaves. So be it, if it keeps us afloat. I’d be very disappointed to see Vela go though; perhaps more than anyone else in the squad.

See, all the good stuff in there is that he runs about a lot Do you not think we could fond somebody else to run about a lot What's David Reeves up to? Ideally, Ken finds 2 million in Lee's shell suit and we don't need to sell, but I think he could be replaced for less than we would get for him Might be wrong, like

December 11, 20178 yr Suppose to be fair, while im not convinced by him, i still think hes the one we would get most for, so he cant be that shit
December 11, 20178 yr See, all the good stuff in there is that he runs about a lot Do you not think we could fond somebody else to run about a lot It took us till the end of September to find someone who could tackle when we'd had 4 months to replace spearing so wouldn't get your hopes up when we have 1 month and that's if he was to be sold on jan 1st, and it's more likely to be the 31st if he does go We'd probably end up with another winger

December 11, 20178 yr Clough or Vela? The position were in I'd prefer Vela. No coincidence that we have been better since he returned. But, we have to sell and so probably will accept anything half decent.
December 12, 20178 yr Clough for me, far more suited playing where vela does Would take my chances it was henry that got things moving in the right direction and let ameobi and Buckley or whoever do more pressing If it were up to me like

Funny one with Vela; you’d think work rate was easy to replace, but we missed him so badly when he was out. FWIW I think he has a decent touch and is a reasonable passer so would be a big loss for £2 million, but we’re not exactly in a position to turn down decent money for anyone
December 12, 20178 yr Clough > Vela all day long for me. But then I do have a track record of my opinion ultimately proving wrong about almost everything I turn my hand to in football - so perhaps we should keep Vela after all :-) I'm not having a pop like - I like him. I just think workrate is easier to replace than flair and creativity (and less expensive).
December 12, 20178 yr Much of it depends on who the midfield are behind the number 10. With the work rate of Pratley and Henry, Clough would be the better choice. If Henry or Pratley were injured (or more likely suspended), we would miss Vela’s work rate if say Cullen or Karacan dropped into centre midfield
December 12, 20178 yr I think clough and vela complemented each other's game. I know it won't happen but both would be my choice
December 12, 20178 yr With better players, he'd look better I rate him Agree entirely. Weren't Brighton supposedly interested - if a premium club is wanting him then he's got to be worth more than 2 million. It's not like he's a kid for the future.
December 12, 20178 yr If it’s not a case of needing the money to pay the bills then I would keep him We’ve now got a team capable of picking up points, enough points to stay up IMO What we have seen in previous transfer windows is a lot of ins and outs, we then spend a month or so getting poor results as we try to make the new squad work. Another poor couple of months through Jan and Feb and we are toast Stick! If we can afford it Edit... thinking about it further we would have to consider the players mindset. Vela has always been a bit hit and miss for me, either fantastic with great work ethic or a tendency to not fancy it and go missing. If the offer is good and he wants to leave then this has to be a consideration. Last thing we would want is to turn down good money for his performances to then drop off and him sit on the bench sulking Edited December 12, 20178 yr by birch-chorley
December 14, 20178 yr I think clough and vela complemented each other's game. I know it won't happen but both would be my choice Bingo. For me vela ahead of pratley, the latter has improved but the link play between clough and vela was excellent. Cant see it happening though.
