There's two, but don't rush, I work from home so I've all the time you need.

I know it's not Evatt - but remember the prodigy that was Alex Samizadeh?

He went on to score 9 goals in his career. 2 for Chorley and 7 for Leatherhead.

I bet they were 7 great goals for Leatherhead though!!!

Should be an interesting January window. I think I know what Evatt would want but I can’t see us having the budget for it so there will be more compromises. And he’s already had to make a lot of compromises.

For example, Santos apart, we are a short team compared to others. He looked for another tall CB but could only afford Forino who is a good athlete but doesn’t seem to have the control or distribution skill required so he sticks with a back three who struggle with incoming crosses. He looked for a box to box beast but got Matete on loan who has the skill and engine but like many others in the team is only 5’9” - could do with legs about a foot longer 😊
Sheehan and Morley are 2 players trying to play the same role so one had to go out with a recall option but both need support around them which means compromises elsewhere.
Neither Dion or Victor make 6 ft so high crosses into the opposition box remain a poor option. Collins is 5’11” and McAtee the tallest forward scraping in at 6’1”. Pointless swinging it into a box of huge defenders unless it is perfect and it seldom is - we have some pace down the flanks but it ain’t lightning and the quality is variable at best.

Genuine skill with pace, power and height would be great but doubt we can afford it.

One was clearly offside & another was handball in the build-up. Three were penalties.

Can't wait for VAR to reach that level.

Jamie Thomas. We nicked him from Blackpool, released him after a year as a pro and he went to Burnley. Loan at Ayr, released from Burnley and did the rounds at Squires Gate, AFC Blackpool and Bamber Bridge. Had no idea that he then ended up signing for Preston but was loaned out to Halifax then released. Last spotted at Bamber Bridge a couple of years ago but don’t think he’s still there. Some serious ups and downs for someone who’s only just 27!

He’s actually first choice at Gillingham these days so done ok really, on a par with pretty much all of our better graduates in recent years. Didn’t realise his sister plays for Man Utd Women.

States on WIki that he suffered from mental health issues.

I'd imagine it happens to a lot of younger footballers who don't "make it"

Imagine pretending to be Welsh to get international football and it STILL not working.

Every right to be depressed.

I saw someone mention Politic earlier, to be fair, he actually isn't doing too bad. 5 in 11 for Dinamo Bucharesti in the Romanian top division this year, they're just 2 points off Champions League regulars CFR Cluj in top spot.

Happy clappers are mentioning the youth that we have had in the last 7/8 years.. That none have really kicked on is no surprise

In that time we got rid of the u21 team and downgraded the academy twice.....

Pre administration kids/youth got a chance to break into the first team when clearly they were not good enough but with the club it was needs must.

Politic, and Darcy stood out as the players that would make a living in the game and the best of the bunch Luca Connell

Connell was gone by the time Evatt came in but Politic and Darcy never got a chance that first season with Evatt in charge.

Five seasons on apart from Thomason who Evatt did not sign not one from either the Youth or B team have broken into the first team on a regular basis.

Contrary to what people think the club is losing money hand over fist, yet we keep making appointments that baffle.

Assistant coaches, the B team that has no purpose 4 keepers and a full time keeper coach despite us only using one keeper in the first team squad.

Sharon and the board will need deep pockets the longer the club is run this way. These statements from supporters and Evatt about training and players mentality only add fuel to the fire.

I don't agree with most things you say to be honest, but I've highlighted areas where we do concur about the current regime.

As for the 'youth' Connell is the proverbial 'one that got away', having been at the club since the age of 9. Politic not so much, as he arrived at 15 from United

I have no interest in going through a list of ones that got away since Alan Ball. Our track record is piss poor for 50 odd years and counting. I’m more interested in our present manager who couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery and is moaning about players not putting in 100% during training. That is your job to sort out!!!

That alone doesn't mean they're any good.

TNS are second in their league and play in Europe pretty much every season, but there's no big rush to sign their striker Aramide Oteh who has 6 in 12 this season.

All about levels, isn't it?

PS The pedant in me says it's either Dynamo Bucharest or Dinamo București.

TNS's star striker last season went to Saudi!

It isn't just us.

At my lads level, every half decent kid gets snapped up by an academy.

The reach of them and size of them now is at saturation levels.

Even Fleetwood Town have scouts all over the North West.

The cream all end up at City, Liverpool and United without fail.

The rest don't make it and a handful get professional contracts.

The systems fucked and it's a complete money pit.

You can't blame Evatt or FV for that.

Correct, and that's why we shouldn't even entertain having an academy, it's just a waste of time, effort and money. We should spend more time and effort trying to pick "the next best" that are cast off by the bigger clubs. The days of all this bollocks of "one of our own" and "local lad" have long, long gone
