I'll caveat that I've never seen him play and he could be clearly superior, but his only experience is league of Ireland games and then EFL trophy. Compare that to Conway who has been playing for a winning team all season in league 2 and I'd go for Conway. I don't get the immediate distrust of our youth over someone else's less experienced youth. Murphy joined Newcastle from Galway United in July 2022 and has been regularly featured in the first team squad under Eddie Howe, making his debut as a substitute against Chelsea in November 2023. I suspect we're intending on utilising Murphy as the left centre-back at times, which is a role Conway doesn't really play Quote

CumbrianWhite Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 We need a LCB so hopefully a good signing. Get him straight in tomorrow night. Quote
worthy10 Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 Welcome young man. The timing of selling dc so quickly now means that we face a 2nd game with very limited striker options. Poor planning/management? Struggling to see any positives with how we're run ATM. The beatings will continue until moral improves. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 Well, if we're having trouble scoring, he could always just grab the ball, and charge over the line, grounding the ball. Quote
SalCity Biggie Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 Maybe he's the piece needed to try this 442 diamond, id love for it to be a yes, the formation works and the Evatt love returns. Fingers crossed Quote
TrickyTrotter Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 Watched the Cambridge game from the stand and still came! Good man, let's get behind him. With Toal back hopefully this week and Murphy in, a chance to reorganise the defence whether Back 4 or 3/5 Quote
itdiddidit? Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 He knows exactly what we need Solid at the back with Drogba in attack Quote

VividDreamer Posted January 20, 2025 Posted January 20, 2025 I do wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Johnston. Shadow of his former self and even then wasn’t that great. Quote
