We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

If he can hold the ball up and he's 6ft 6, then it's a yes from me. Always skeptical of YouTube highlights but they are of a higher division than we are in. I'm assuming prime drogba didn't want to drop to league 1 🙄

What if he does all of the above, but only for the dozen games a season he is fit?

Seen something on twatter, a response from this lads mate whose a Cardiff fan

paraphrasing a bit but “if your looking for a target man who can hold it up then he’s not that…” 🤣

If comparing to our ‘big’ vic, he’s got 7 inches on him and I don’t mean in his pants.

vic only 5,11.

Aasgaard (finally) off from Wigan. Off to Luton for £3m.

PNE had an offer rejected for their keeper, Tickle too.

when you look at that £3m and the rumoured £6m offer for that Kone at Wycombe whose only been in the league 6 months, does it again bring in to question how little we let our players go for…

Thank god we won't be playing against him again this season (could be back in L1 soon though).

I think that's also down to them not being that good, to attract much of a fee.  I'm not being disrespectful to some half decent players, but none of them are good enough to be snapped up by a higher club or attract a big fee IMO.  If they want to play in the championship they either need us to get promoted or hope IE gets a job there.

Dapo should have gone for more I'll give you that, but hardly played so we couldn't demand much.

I’d start showering at home after the game if I’m Jones, Schon or Sheehan

So, what do folk think- anyone else out?

One or two in maybe, but I'm not sure exactly where we're up to with squad numbers.

The run in, and our prospects, could be shaped by who the others lose as much as who we bring in. Wycombe still punching but if Kone goes a big hole to fill. Wigan losing Aasgard and possibly Tickle will weaken them for when we see them again. Reading always vulnerable to losing players.

Wigan have sold Aasgard, who was like a one man army against us this season..

sucks to be wigan fans, just in general...

I can see Williams, santos and Baxter leaving

Same and I don’t think I’m overly arsed after watching us defend the last 2 games out. Toal to come back and strengthen the defence also.

2 big senior players in there who have dictated the speed of our build up play for most of the last 2-3 seasons, appreciate this was under instruction.

If they aren’t signing new contracts fuck em off. We need to build

Agreed,   wouldn't miss any of em.   Likely to be a very busy few days coming up

If we could offload, Baxter, Santos, Mcatee & Williams and invest in a proper striker and a CB, i'd be delighted

I don't live on a different planet though, so i can't see that happening :D

I'd keep McAtee, there's a player there

Not fussed about the others though

Pretty much my thoughts.

If they're looking elsewhere, then so should we.

Of course in the meantime, if they remain professional then we shouldn't cut our nose off to spite our face, and play them as required.

You'd think, unless the club is giving them strong hints they want to ease them out, and they know of interest, they'll hedge their bets, see who the new bloke is and whether he likes them or not. Not long to stick it out till end of season if he doesn't

Take your point, but it seems that Santos made that decision some time ago; well before Evatt went.

He could change his mind of course, in which case great- just sign on.

If not, don't expect to be selected every week.

Santos as a player represents everything good and bad about football under IE

and he clearly fell out with the fans

I'll be amazed if we wants to stay, if indeed an offer has been made

I think it’s more a mental thing with Rico now and I can’t see that changing so best he goes. I always got the feeling with Baxter we were a stepping stone so he can go too for me. Williams is too in and out so again I’d move him on and I honestly don’t think we’d miss any of them if we did.

Free Santos from taking the ball from the keeper and tell him to clear the ball with his head and feet and not to worry about starting the play and we would have one hell of a defender

Santos is still our best defender his pace and strength are second to none in this division . He’s not been in the team of the year for the last few seasons because people think he’s a nice chap. His passing range is also the best of our current group of defenders so if we are to go more direct under a new manager he’s a great asset.

yes he makes the odd mistake but he plays in league one every player does.

Cogley was in the team of the year and he’s apparently shite so can’t be hard to get in

I assume their scouting process consists of checking through our old programmes.
