We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Room for a big one with a bandaged hand, too?

Giving the ball away for Perth Glory?

It wasn't that, it was that he isn't so much better than the rest - if he's even better at all - that it was worth spending that kind of money

Yes.

I don't think it was worth it.

My point was purely and simply a mathematical one.

If you want to quantify the monetary value of superiority, then you would have to subtract one fee from another.

A digression from the main point.

Which is a questionable purchase looking at what players we have and what we need.

I can't help feeling that one of Morley and Sheehan may go, and CMG too.

We have so many attacking midfielder types, and few that will put a foot in.

I’m hoping evatt can see the window through just so we can off load a few of the squad if nothing else .
If we can bring a striker in who can hold the ball up and a midfielder who can tackle without getting booked and a no nonsense centre half all the better but doubtful

If only these requirements had been obvious last Summer.

Didn’t he spend the summer mulling over is plan B which turned out to be playing 3 strikers and a 2 man midfield

Summer Pt.2

Pt.1 was spent pondering his navel & wondering if he should jack it in.

His conclusion was to take Ozempic for the navel and  sadly, NOT to jack it in.

But that would only be the case if the claim was that he was £1.2M better than the alternative, which is a different thing

Alex Murphy maybe, they've been looking for a loan for him.

That’s who my lad thought after he checked their squad, can play left back and left CH.

But can he do wing-back ?

Collins going to Lincoln according to the new oracle O'Rourke.

Collins is limited but would give us physicality we do not have at all and could free up Collins or McAtee to be more effective.

It would need a tactical shift to start putting some crosses on though

Love the speculation

Hope we’re all happier when the window shuts.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm not sure why it's him over Conway.

I'll caveat that I've never seen him play and he could be clearly superior, but his only experience is league of Ireland games and then EFL trophy. Compare that to Conway who has been playing for a winning team all season in league 2 and I'd go for Conway.

I don't get the immediate distrust of our youth over someone else's less experienced youth.

Even though he’s apparently a natural left back, expect him to get thrown in like for like over Johnston in the back three

Murphy joined Newcastle from Galway United in July 2022 and has been regularly featured in the first team squad under Eddie Howe, making his debut as a substitute against Chelsea in November 2023.
