i doubt the board have told him they expect promotion

there's absolutely no reason to write the season off when there's 6 points between 4th and 9th and we still play two of them at home

no pressue from me either so to speak, but fuckin ell, I've seen bigger 2nd half of the season challenges/pushes for promotion than the one we're presented with

Don't write off the season until it's mathematically impossible. Are we supposed to step aside and leave it to clubs like Stockport and Charlton?

Absolutely. Maybe "written off" is the wrong phrase. But expectations are surely tempered compared to when we kicked off in August.

Totally get that, plenty of scope for us getting in the top 6.  But it will take more than a tweak here and there, IE had us nowhere near beating anyone in the top half, not just draws and narrow defeats but really getting taken apart in a majority of the games.  We can't get in top 6 without winning a fair few against top half teams, so SS needs to prompt a significant improvement, not just a bit.  

6 games left against bone fide bottom half teams that we don't have a bad record against.

3 v Wigan, Blackpool and Rotherham which are in the "tough" category.

8 against top half teams (including all the top 4).

IE wouldn't get many wins out of that lot, with SS we may just have a chance but that's 11 very tough games with this squad of players.

If we have bought a new manager in because the last one so bad and do not think he can ‘improve us’ by 4 points over 17 games I am not sure why everyone wanted to change the Manager. 
Clearly the Board spending best part of £1m on Randel wil presumably expect improvement.

It's an anyone can beat anyone type of a season and we've got rid of a manager that was bringing the whole place down, just by doing that we've got a stronger squad

Said it before but Blackpool were in complete disarray all last season and they needed a win to get in play offs.
