We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

I'm not convinced we play both Simons and Erhahon in the games we expect to dominate, would be a bit redundant, need someone in there that will move the ball quicker and pass through lines with a bit more consistency.

Think both of those will start even when we play teams we will dominate but Erahon would go left Simons central allowing a extra player on the right of a midfield three That would bring in Morley

Great options to have

Really surprised that Cambridge don’t want Dan back.

Did ok for them until his injury.

New manager though (Neil Harris), everyone wants their own men.  If IE had left at the end of Dan's loan here there was no way he was coming back, even if he'd been better than he is.  Same with Morley/Wycombe.

Dempsey was one of the few who showed real commitment when the chips were down and is an asset to any team when fit.

Seems like he's getting to a point where he cant stay fit though. Surprisingly played 49 games in all comps in 23/24, thought it was less. But managed 12 last year (according to Wiki).

Do agree he's the only only that showed any spirit at one point. Would have loved him as captain post Wembley.

Is Dempsey injured at at the moment?

Can't understand the negativity towards him. Great player on his day and not his fault he broke his back

Then again if he's still not fit after a full summer's break, then my patience is starting to run out.

Because he’s made of sugar paper. He’s another folk cling on to. Like CMG. If we want promotion we can’t have these passengers

But he never seems to open his mouth.  A captain needs to do more than lead by example, he needs to be fairly vocal.  He's got a great attitude on the field but always looks like he's in a bad mood and ready to chin someone 😀.  Not a captain for me.

His problem is that he is too committed to the cause, if that’s possible.

Played through a back injury - which was then aggravated causing time out and his latest was playing with a torn meniscus- which true to form was aggravated to the extent it needed surgery.

He just needs to be more of a sick note like certain players I could mention and take time out when he’s not 100%.

I hope he’s learned his lesson but somehow I doubt it as he only has two gears, flat out and stop.

His current absence is because he’s had an operation of his knee; he’s in the rehabilitation phase. Knee operations can de difficult to come back from but, if successful, can totally solve the problem. He might be fully fit during the season and, as others have stated, we know he will bring commitment in spades.

His contracts up next summer and if he is still here, I suspect he'll not be offered anything new.

He will inevitably come back from injury and be our player of the season now 🙃

I like Demps. He’s a grafter, he’s passionate and you can tell he’s proud as punch that he plays for us.

But he simply hasn’t shown anything like he did before all these injuries and is way down the pecking order now IMO. Would love to be proved wrong on this but can’t see it.

If he isn't offered a new contract, probably best to have that meeting without his Dad present!

I'd still guess come the end of the year Morley will have played the most minutes for us in midfield.

There's every chance he, Sheehan and Dempsey could all end up back as key players. They're all talented enough and will get plenty of minutes if they're still here. It's not Xavi and Iniesta we've signed.

I really don't know why people are so keen to definitively choose our XI for the season before a ball has been kicked.

I like the look of our signings from having seen none of them play a single second of football (other than those who've played against us). But the reality is that in three months time the talk on here will be how 2 or 3 of them are absolutely fucking dogshit. And that's if our recruitment has gone well!

Dempsey is getting nowhere near.

Be a big enough struggle for Morley.

Their days are numbered for me.

Dempsey is (unfortunately) too injury prone, I think Morley can kick on

I hope the Kenny deal isn’t dead. He would bring different qualities from the others in our front line and as Schumacher points out, we need plenty of different combinations and options for different game situations. It’s gone very quiet on the Celtic front - maybe that’s a good thing?

Dempsey isn’t injury prone. He’s had 2 injuries and neither of them would have kept him out for long if he had treated them at the time instead of continuing to play either at the request of the manager or through his own stubbornness.

Players play with injuries all the time. Bellingham played the whole of last season needing shoulder surgery.

You have no idea of any of the full details.

His time at Bolton has been blighted with injuries no matter how you want to gloss over it.

Do we know who the new captain is likely to be?

He is now!

Hopefully, this knee op has resolved his problem once and for all, but there has to be a concern that is won't, or indeed that another injury may come along as he starts his comeback to match fitness.

Med. 😂

Seems to be a toss up between Johnston and Toal

Article about SS discussing it, in the BN.

No decision as yet, but he makes some interesting observations about leadership as a whole.
