JDC 's nowhere near McAtee's standard at waving and pointing, a mere apprentice by comparison

He's a dependable, durable sort, by no means one of our bigger problems last season, whether he's a vocal organiser from the back I'm not sure. I'm also not convinced he's a genuine right back in the 4 SS wants to play but we'll find out over the next few weeks.

For those with longer memories nowhere near as good a pointer as Len Cantello! 🤣

I never got past what a useless pile of shite he was for us to notice him pointing a lot, the fop-haired lump of lard.

Ha, can’t disagree and The Baggies must have really seen us coming with that one.

Is a captain in football rhat important these days?

If players aren't doing their job properly then any other player can have a word, then theres also the manager on the sideline

It's not like in cricket where they make on field decisions

I think if given to the right character, then a captain can help set the tone for a football team too. John Terry under Mourinho being an obvious example. And to use the cricket comparison, Ben Stokes and Joe Root both played while the other was captain and yet the teams were very different in style. A big part of that being the influence of the captain.

But if that kind of natural leader isn't there, arbitrarily giving someone an armband isn't going to make much difference I'd agree.

Dempsey isn’t injury prone. He’s had 2 injuries and neither of them would have kept him out for long if he had treated them at the time instead of continuing to play either at the request of the manager or through his own stubbornness.

oh.

ok

I think if you sat and watched one particular player for 90 mins every single one would gesticulate or throw their arms about.

Cogley is hardly Diouf or Robbie Savage is he?

If he did it as much as suggested he'd get stick off other fans and get booked every week.

I've never noticed it once.

me either

don’t think we have anyone the calibre of Kevin Nolan for shouting and waving/pointing

Excellent. If you need any further correction, advice, mentoring or just general life-counselling PM me. 😊

I think he's had more than two injuries tbh.

When he first signed he struggled with some muscle injury and missed a lot of games. Then he did his back. Then his hamstring. Then his knee.

I like him btw.

Looks like we are going in to Stockport away with Max Conway at LB then. Hopefully he steps up and grabs his chance. Such are the circumstances in which careers blossom.

.... my only other thought was to wonder whether Taylor is actually fit in time.

why's everyone getting their kecks in a twist with this kenny fella?

some clown on uncle craigs facebook group said he was already better than arron collins

he's been applying his trade in the irish version of the north west counties ffs

people just need to relax

Makes me laugh, you’d think we were signing the next Jamie Vardy. Truth be told, no one has a clue if he’ll be any good, same with most of the other signings!

Just got to trust the recruitment team have improved!

Conway has looked comfortable, and has deserved the opportunity.

Even if Taylor has recovered from the injury, he's short on match sharpness.

I'm pretty sure ST sales just about covers the wages from the close season.

Thats about it.

I really wish people would leave off Conway, he’s been one of the most consistent and effective players this pre season and fully deserves his place in the starting line up. I just hope the other ten can do as well.

I take it you missed the PNE game then

I was not having a pop at Conway, I was wishing him well.

45 minutes, where he had some difficulties against a winger and forward thrusting full back.

Did you miss the second 45 minutes, or the other games?

He done very well, and probably exceeded expectations of the vast majority of us.

Conway was entitled to have his hands full with Small and Offiah getting forward to support him. He was left 1 on 1 with him too often early on, then SS must have got some words on and, with a bit of support, he got to grips with him. Second half Small did nothing of note, Offiah was pushed back and struggled, Conway started the attack for the second goal.

He's a bit of work still to do on his defending, he knows that, SS has said so, but that doesn't mean he's a high risk choice on Sunday

Absolutely.

In possession, I was very impressed- he looks comfortable, strong with a touch of pace, and has an eye for the odd goal too.

Hopefully, with a but more solidity in midfield, we can accommodate the occasional foray forward.

His worst game was against Barrow, when the L2 side consistently played behind him in the first half.

He’s looked decent going forward but he’s a lot to do on the defensive side of his game.

Mr Schumacher agrees with you, sir.

Fans want us to spend millions on some player who's played in the Irish Premier League at most..

but don't want to change a "player of the season" from the League below us..

He also says the lad has done well so far.

The whole team has room for improvement, especially up top.

Looking at the starting line up that day, is it a surprise that some difficulties were experienced initially?

Much less experienced back line, and Morley/Sheehan in midfield- as they were against Preston.
