We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Another £1mil plus L1 player that falls into the "who's he?" category.  Spent a lot of time not doing not a lot at the likes of Cambridge, Salford and Aldershot then one good season at Vale in L2.

Only 23, had a really solid year for Aldershot at National League level whilst 21, decent return last year in a promotion and by all accounts started this season strong as well.

I'd have been happy if we'd have been signing him, although maybe not quite at that number. Clearly a good player though and one with still plenty of growth.

Fair enough I'm sure Plymouth know what they're spending their money on.  13 league goals from open play in his career so far (above national league) and he's 23 doesn't scream bargain.  Upto Feb he'd hardly scored then had a great end to the season and was obviously a big factor in their promotion so we'll see how does in L1.

No doubt.

In which case they're already approaching a 4-3-3.

Scrap the "number 10", and get Sheehan/Morley in there.

I look back on Burstow's first goal- the cut back, and his movement- and it shows precisely the benefit of having a wide player, getting to the line and putting a decent ball in quickly.

I'm going to apologise now if this sounds daft, but didn't we used to have a good thing going with Manchester City and Liverpool (arguably two of the best teams in the world and both contenders for the title again this season) in terms of getting loan players? Was that relationship between Markham and whoever else at those clubs? How did that partnership work and more important, how come it seems to have stopped? In an ideal world, I'd love for that partnership to still exist some how and we could get another loan player from either of them to fill out needs in areas we need strengthening, it would be a shame if those partnerships have ended, I know not every player landed when we borrowed them, but I'd love to see someone come from there again to be a 10, defender, anything really

SS has stated that he still has targets in terms of a striker.

If that was a loan of a youth type from anywhere, you'd imagine that that would have happened by now.

The Celtic lad is a touch older, and has been on loan before, and now signed a new deal. He could still come, but the season has started up there too, and they've brought in a couple of new signings. Surely he would also have been made available earlier, if he was going to be loaned out. He may not want to come neither.

I suspect, SS may be looking for someone with a bit of proven ability.

With three loan signings already in Cissoko, ACD and Burstow I’d much rather any further signings are permanents because it’s key players we’re looking for and to lose them at the end of the season, wherever we finish, would be a major blow if they’ve done well. I know probably all but ACD could be up to purchase but if they’ve done well they could be recalled as early as January so I hope the targets aren’t further loans and we can build for the future.

Cissoko is a loan with an option to buy.
And I imagine that if we went up and ACD/Burstow had done well, we'd be in the driving seat to get them permanently if we wanted to.

Don't think he's started a game this season

I don't care If we loan 11 men straight from an Asylum centre as long as it gets us up.

As long as they can live in a hotel in Blackpool?

All given a floating role, with options to ghost into the box?

Can all stay at the hotel too.

So people are having a meltdown because we sold a striker who’s now sitting on the bench at Huddersfield?

Whilst we have a loanee who’s already scored two, a highly promising youngster & a lad who scored 15 in the SPL last season.

Feels more like we need a number 10 to me. Unless Dempsey finds his feet or Randall improves with game time.

I’d still take another striker like. But not Dion

But you could say that we are stuck with them if they end up shit like most of the crap we have brought in over the last two seasons with Markham

I think you’ll find I did say that traf but if Hull are struggling as is possible and Burstow is doing well they can recall him in January, as with ACD who Brighton probably would want to keep. I’m only saying that permanent signings secure key players whilst loans don’t but let’s hope nobody is called back, we fly up the league, get promoted and sign all 3? 😁

That’s always the chance every club takes?

Markle hit Gold with Trafford and Bradley.

The rest of the loans, some OKish but mostly shite. It can't work every time but his record, apart from those two was not good.

Is there a limit to how many loanees can we have in the squad ... & on the pitch ?

I couldn't be arsed arguing with some bloke on Twitter who was ranting on about us having no pace and no goals in the team so need Charles back and playing 4-4-2

I'll stick my neck out and say that Randall will cement the no10 position and do well. Dempsey could maybe do an odd off the bench shift at it once fit.

Can see why it's taking SS a while to find that other striker he's after, if it's someone a bit different to Dalby and Burstow, tricky position to fill and, I suspect, there aren't many out there who'd fit the bill and we could get.

So yesterday, Plymouth signed Tolaj from Port Vale for £1.2M. He's scored one goal above League Two level in his career.

That's the market we're shopping in at the moment.

Striker wise  I've just got a feeling we are going to end up going with what we have , I'm inclined to agree that a 10 is starting to perhaps look a more pressing issue, but can we afford to discard 2 players costing 2M and have them both 2nd or 3rd fiddle ?

SS, SB or anyone else at the club wouldn't have Dion anywhere near the club.

He's disruptive, he's thicker than a whales cock, his private life is a mess aand most importantly he's not been in form for 2 season and misses more open nets than Bod.

The lad was ace times for us, but right now, he's a big fuck off liability.

No way Dion will comeback to us he doesn’t fit our system and he is no number 10 ludicrous what some of our fans come up with.

They would be good in the channels floating over a few into the box
