We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

He's 30 in a few weeks time.

Just past peak but SHOULD be capable for a couple more years.

I liked Charles but he moved on and we have as well. No return should happen and we know it never will.

Surely not by anyone sane. Plenty of time but we need another as well imo

This idea of a centre back with pace. We've conceded 4 in 4. Only 1 of those was from a forward getting away from our defenders and, even in that case, it was less about pace and more about Toal switching off. I genuinely can't recall a single instance in any League Game where our central defenders have been outstripped for pace. Correct me if i am wrong.

As for Dalby, i thought he looked very promising. A lot of physicality, held it up a couple of times and brought wide players into play. He made a mistake with his lay off to McAtee but he'll be good for us when fit i think. We have a CF who has scored 2 in 4 as well. So you could argue we already have the player you want!

I’m with you on this regarding our CBs.

At worst, our goals conceded deserve nothing more than a bit of light criticism. And even then for us experts on social media to be handing it out is a bit rich.

I think it could be as easy to pass some of the goals off as great play from the opposition (Stockports 2nd and McGoldricks) which is going to happen this season. Not every goal is preventable and deserves over analysis.

I think some of the defending of our box has been fantastic. Johnston has surprised me. He’s played well when called upon. Forino was poor against Sheff Utd (probably exaggerated by playing with 10 men), but I thought he was great last night. And Toal has led the defence and the team well, dominant in both boxes. Taylor and Forrester to come into the mix too.

I wouldn’t be surprised or disappointed if we don’t recruit here.

I’ve made my feelings known on RB - I thought Tutu for 75 mins was good yesterday, another one who tired though.

I definitely agree on another forward and I think there’ll be another one through the door before September.

That's generally a mistake anyway to be fair.

Yep. An injury to Burstow or Dalby is all it takes to be back in the same situation we’re in now - short of strikers. I’m sure SS has it on his list.

He looked miles off fitness but also like he'll be a handful when he's up to shape

Got Warren, Big Dave, even Big Dan if need be..

Can't recall the other young lads name right now. Played in pre season..

Lawrence.

I think we are looking at better quality/more experience at this present time.

In which case, they need loans.

All well and good saying we need 3-4 players but that's an extra 600k-800k in wages over the next year, never mind any transfer fees.

whenever I hear or see Burstow

i think

"We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold."

I suspect I'm probably the only one

or

Flagstaff, Arizona, don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino

there's a Sheryl Crow song mentions it too I think

Dan has been told to look for another club and the other two will probably play bit parts at best, we'll be signing another striker before the deadline I'm pretty sure of that.

do you reckon he's looking?

or just tossed it off happy enough the play B team and Fifa on his PS5 all day instead

Half of those incisive passes from the midfielders would have bounced off him and his form in home games last season was terrible (unless we were playing Reading, ironically!).

either that or no fucker wants him

Wouldn't say I'm overly convinced by Burstow at this point, although it's early days. I'd certainly not be using a shit shot which hit a defender and rolled in as a reason not to look at another striker.

He had three touches in the final third in the first half last night and two shots total, in a game we dominated. He's not Erling Haaland so he needs to find a way to be more involved.
