FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Well, he seems a steady character. Came up rom the deep South to Blackburn in the Championship, then us in Lg.1.

Obviously money talks but we can only do what we can.

Absolutely.

I would imagine Brighton would let him go at the right price, and if we're in the upper reaches of the league by January, then we could make a case for him staying, playing regularly, and being in the championship next year.

Another reason to get the results better.

They still have Premier League parachute payments and even without that attract much higher revenues than we do.

How? They average a few thousand more than us (for now!) but have nothing like the commercial setup (hotel and hospitality) that we have.

Better tv money, better sponsorship money at a guess

I’ll give you TV money but I thought that external revenue was off the table, as per the parachute payment. No idea how much their sponsorship money is worth but our deals (especially Toughsheet) have been lauded.

two home games this season

28,033
26,835

that's 27,434

compared to our 20,332

35% higher

probably charge more for tickets as well

they'll have a bit in the bank no doubt from recent PL appearances

I suspect they could offer more than we could in terms of a fee and wages

plus a higher level of football

but anyway

I'm not worried, he seems happy here

if we're looking good for a promotion charge come Jan, he'll stick around

I'm not sure he'll get much of a say. Similar to the Stoke lad at Walsall or Barry at Stockport.  If it suits the loaning club, they'll recall him and loan him out to a side a division up.  They'll get a greater loan fee and the players development is tested further.

I'm not too worried either though.  If there's serious interest in him in the next window he must be doing well. That'll do me.

There seems to be an assumption theres a recall clause

And that Sheff Utd havent just sacked their manager

Fwiw, i imagine we cant compete financially

Iles is reporting there is

There’s more value in a player ripping L1 to pieces and helping his team get promoted, than move into the championship but not quite have the same impact and not get the attention he would in the league below.

I don’t have any fear he’ll be going anywhere in Jan.

That assumes their intention is to sell

They always have break clauses now

As was the case with Bradley a couple of years ago.

Several championship clubs (including PNE) wanted him in January but he stayed here because he was happy and his club respected that.

The impression I got from his little interview with Iles is ACD really likes it here, has a good feeling about the club.

He didn't quite cut it in Championship last season so, although he's getting a lot of early attention and getting the rumour mill fired up, he might be happy to stay where he's getting a lot of love and enjoying his football with folk who get what he's about

@jmjhb will know what his recall looks like - Presumably, Brighton will have to reimburse the loan fee, pay us a cancellation fee and potentially reimburse his wages. It's quite the commitment when you have every penny scrutinised by the Premier League authorities.

I also think he's happy to continue learning here for the remainder of the season then step up next season. Championship is unforgiving and inconsistency can see you ride the bench

Is that mcatee done for now?

Loan in Jan?

Think it was always the case has when Burstow, Dalby and Forss were up to speed, he’d struggle as would Randall.

Club would prefer money for him I imagine. Or a loan to a non competing club. Whatever we think of him though, Barnsley wanted him and he got 10 goals last season. He’s a semi decent league one operator and can’t get on our bench. Shows the strength of the squad we have.

Taylor can’t get near too and he’s a quality defender.

What’s going on with Taylor, is he injured.

Imagine he'll get minutes on Tuesday along with the others not involved today.

I wouldn't worry about Taylor, there'll be injuries and he will have chances. McAtee is done for but we need some money back, especially if to a rival, as thebells says

"Getting minutes" against some kids, isn't getting minutes in the real world.  We could win 9-0 with hat-tricks for Taylor, McAtee and Randall and another clean sheet for Miller and it has no bearing on any league games.

(sorry nothing personal I just find the getting minutes thing a bit condescending, they aren't daft, they only want to play in games that count, these are games that Nlundulu and Matheson got starts in).

We’ve got the most balanced squad I can remember for a long time, with a decent and fit understudy in every position. The problem is that most of these are not currently getting match minutes. Eventually, some of these will be needed, due to injury, illness or suspension. Tuesday offers such an opportunity.

In my opinion, this team - none of whom started today - would be competitive in League One.

Miller

Christie-Toal-Inwood-Taylor

Warren-Morley-Sheehan-Cissoko

Randall

Dalby

PS: McAtee is still only on the bench!

Kyle Dempsey is making his return on Tuesday 😀

It won't be a loan without the option of making it permanent.
