We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

That is bad but i would like to think he had a suspicion about it when he hadn't had a contract

He went away believing a deal was on the table. That is the point. He was telling Bolton fans he'd be back next season. Clearly something happened along he way and the club changed their mind (the story about fees sounds plausible). Which seems fair enough and as you say in Wildschut we've signed younger and probably better. But still he shouldn't have found out like he did.

A clever player and I enjoyed watching him but just too slow for the league we are in. He certainly helped Anthonee Robinson out when they played together.

Shouldve signed the deal then went away.

Pretty sure there will be more contact than he implies.

There was something on TV the other week that even when a players contract is up the club have to inform them formally that it will not be renewed.

Wheater got an email advising of the auto renewal. Morais you would assume wouldve recieved one advising of his release

if there has been further discussions thereafter and hes been told its sorted, go away, relax and get it done when you get back then fair enough. But things change in that time, another target appears and the club goes down another route.

unfortunate for him, yes but it is what it is. We were close to that Texiera lad the other week, thats now gone cold. He's not out there expressing his disappointment with indirect comments

See as a contractor I would have sorted it before going away. Not leave an offer on the table

What about if you weren't a contractor?????

Doesn't work like that in football though. His agent picked it up. The key people who could have sorted it out weren't around at the time and he went off to do his summer school thing.

Not saying that he should have been offered a deal or owt. Just I don't agree with them making a fuss of releasing players the right way then announcing him being released via social media without him knowing.

He was already released. He wouldn't have a leg to stand on in any occupation. There is no loyalty in football anymore, apart from the fans.

Aye I love the I’m not the kind of person to comment stuff.

You’ve just done that by commenting ffs.

It's like the old 'I'm not racist but'

I thought we could have got more out of Morais at this level

The number of assists he got in a few months was incredible

If he can’t make the jump up you have to wonder will this Otzumer fella be able to, or even Wyke

Maybe part of it is Morais fitness, he missed a few by all accounts

Oztumer is 27 & was chosen in the Div 1 team of the season.  Morais was over 30 & couldn't get a game for Bradford.

It's always a gamble to see if a player can make the step up, but Oztumer must be a better bet than Morais was.

Thing about Morais he was in a promotion pushing team who were more often than not on front foot

He got a lot of assists from free kicks and corners, but I bet we had a lot more too than last season per game, whilst league one defenders couldn't deal with them as well, it's no surprise Wheater and beevers dried up goals wise as well

He still scored a belting free kick though

As for otzumer, he stands out in an average league one side, so probaby has more about him

So long as he doesn't get stuck out wide, he should be reet

Morais finished the season top of the whole division for assists though, he only signed in January, can’t all of been luck. Surely he made ‘team of the season’ with that behind him

Anyway he’s gone now, good luck to the lad

Fingers crossed the Turk can step up, he has age on his side, my concern is his size though, we’ve struggled with technically gifted short arses at this level many times before

Wasn't suggesting it was luck, more his level at the right time in a strong league one squad suited to set peices

Was a perfect fit for us

Had we been relegated I'm sure he'd have had his contract done and dusted long before he went on holiday

That's my worry, I'm a shortarse but I'm still 5 inches taller than this lad.

Also our most exciting signing though. The only two times I've seen him he's been fucking immense

We’ll need a good start for Oztumer to get a look in imo ..... parky plays percentages and I fear he will feel he can’t afford any luxuries alla cloughy

Marc Wilson was due to sign for us today. Left the hotel now so not sure what the complication is. Presume that's why we got the emojis

Who is Marc Wilson ?

Used to play for Stoke and Sunderland

Marc Wilson would be alright.

Used to play midfield and full back so should be okay on the ball.

He's only played about 20 games in the last 3 years hasn't he?  -  although I suppose that's the sort of player we're looking at these days.

I asked Mrs Sweeps Uncle, who is a Sunderland fan if Wilson is any good.......his response was "I don't know, never heard of him"  :D   -  so I'm guessing he didn't play for Sunderland on a regular basis

Only played just the 21 games last season apparently ????

The Sunderland forums thought he was gash, and ran through treacle the times he played.

There are interesting reports of his performance against Fulham :s

I was pissed at a charity auction years ago when he was a bit of a star at Stoke and a squad signed Marc Wilson shirt was first out.

Nobody was bidding so I thought I’d help and start it off to get it going

Of course nobody else bid so I ended up having paid a fair few quid for it. Think I ended up giving it Brixton to raffle for summat or other

Slightly better were Ivan Klasnic’s boots and shirt that ended up in the bottom of my nephew’s wardrobe :D

Moral of the story - Don’t drink and bid
