We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Iredale natural full back, Geth was a full back when we signed him so theres a certain attacking nature to them to bomb on whilst being natural defenders. Evatt wanted two wide centre backs in a back three from the first day he arrived but he had Delaney, Taft & an ageing Baptiste attempting to do it. We did see positive signs second half of last season when we went back to the back three with Johnston/Geth the ones stepping into midfield & providing more threats of deliveries whilst joining attacks linking up supremely well with their wing backs wether it was John or Fossey so if Iredale is another Geth then it'll be a great fit.

I wish! That was the plan today.

I think I’d rather we sign Iredale first than Fossey good left backs/left sided centre half’s are like rocking horse shite .  Signing both would be a massive statement of intent .

I have a feeling we will get Fossey back, Dapo and Santos will extend contracts

but have a bad feeling Trafford will get a gig in the Championship. I'm sure we'll find a decent replacement if so, but would love to see him develop more with us.

I wonder which Championship side would give Traf the number 1 spot?

None would be my guess, so i doubt he’d move just to sit on the bench.

The lads 19, he wants to be playing every week.

The relegated teams have shown what experience of the championship is now required.

I think this is intended as a hint Fossey might be signing.

Fair point, just from my own perception he seems highly capable and tons of potential. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a lot of competition for his signature. Catches a lot of crosses and shots that keepers at this level usually punch. Shot-stopping is very good. Think his biggest drawbacks are his distribution and his decision-making on coming to claim balls as a sweeper-keeper but only 19 as you say, so he needs more experience to hone those skills.

Really hope he signs on for another year with a view to making it permanent.

He's 3rd in shots saved % in League 1. Compared to Dixon who's 25th.

75% shot-save ratio is comparable with some of the playoff Championship teams GKs, obviously they're playing against higher level players but for a 19 year old, very promising. And never a bad thing to be on good terms with Man City's development team

Be happy to take Trafford back but also take someone else. There’s many a solid keeper about who would do a job at this level. Amos has just won the league FFS

another loan is Just kicking the can down the road really and it’s the same issue next season. We’ve made a point of getting people in on a couple of years contract at least so whoever it is would be the same ideally

I'm surprised Dixon is as high as 25th tbh. So, we're accepting that was a mistake are we ?

Trafford for a second season would be good, but if he gets a 'better' offer sobeit. Just get the replacement right this time.

With both Crellin & Dixon IE made the mistake of focussing on their kicking ability rather than their shot stopping. Whilst Trafford looked to be better all round I’d say his kicking is the worst part of his game. Absolutely fine with me cos I’m a bit old skool in wanting my Keeper to save things first and foremost.

Gilkes was an oddity in that he was already in the building

I dont think evatt will be signing a keeper on his hand work over his feet any time soon

More of a balance would be ok though 🤣

No and it’s not just distribution, when you have a keeper with good feet it keeps up that speed and tempo or building from the back, makes the oppositions work a lot harder when they try to press high.
