We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Excellent stuff👍

Thank god the days of signing journeymen on short term deals are long gone.

Sounds really switched on, bright and mature. Had a bit of life experience living in difference places.

Nice to have some intelligent young players on our books who are ambitious.

Evatt said of him:

“Jack is a player we’ve been keen on for a while and a proven performer at League One level, who we believe can also operate higher."

I know there's a clamour for us to get some recruits who have Championship experience, if that's where we want to go to, but we need to be shrewd in our recruitment, and signing players who haven't played at that higher level but have the potential to make the step up keeps the costs down and makes for an exciting time watching them develop and push on.

I didn't think Gethin would be able to handle the step up from L2 last year but he's done so with flying colours.

Yeah it’s about being a bit clever. Trying to get championship players could potentially be paying championship wages to play in L1.

Championship players don't start their careers in the Championship...

Excellent looks to be one of the quality recruits (at this level) who has potential to move up as we move up. I reckon a lot of work has already gone into getting the 3 or 4 players Evatt & Markham believe will make us better into the club.

I think this is could turn out to be as important as signing Fossey buzzing 🙃

Brilliant news and this type of signing is definitely the way forward. It's heavily dependent on spotting players with the potential to play at the higher level rather than having done so already. As such you need a thorough scouting system. But its the right way to go and if we do go up and he proves himself at Championship level then his value is higher. It's good business on all fronts.

Having said all that I still think there's room for a sprinkling of the Kieran Lee/Bodvarsson "been, seen and done at Championship level" signings. Only a sprinkling though. 80 per cent of the time this type of signing is going to be the right way ahead.

Well done IE, Sharon and co.

Getting people in for pre-season is great.

Much better than waiting until the end of the window because everyone will be cheaper/better then signing dogshit, who then also take another 8 weeks to get fit.

Used to frustrate the life out of me signing players at the end of the window and then we would say they will be fit in another month or so.

great to get lads in now ready for this Portugal trip early June.

hit the ground running day 1.

At worst, Iredale must be an upgrade on Gordon, but if he's as good as reports from Cambridge say, he sounds like a left sided Gethin Jones.

A great start to recruitment.

There has already been a Plymouth fan on twitter complaining that we are signing already until I pointed out that

This guy cost nothing and was a free agent so we’ve probably been negotiating for a while.

We have already sold season tickets for next season thus knowing what income we can expect therefore doing an early budget allowing us to know what we can offer and bid for players early instead of not knowing.

Three we  are a bigger club than Plymouth so we can attract better players.

Is he aware that the season has finished, for us and Plymouth?

Out of contract player, simple.

Its actually not simple, unless the window is open

Which it may or may not be

It is simple.

If we weren't allowed to sign him, we wouldn't have.

Finishing our season before the other divisions has helped us with Iredale.

Don’t think that we’ll settle the Trafford one before the Premiership completes.

Evatt will want the GK situation (and Fossey) tied up before he goes on holiday.

Then he can come back and add the cherries on the cake.

He was out of contract

You can sign a contract with another club in your last 6 months

Which he has done.

He’ll be registered when the window opens. 1st July.

Who are we signing from Bournemouth?

Good point there.

The Iredale situation has obviously been ongoing for a bit- it's good that he's chosen us despite reported interest from teams higher up.

Where’s he going on holiday?

This Sheff Weds v Sunderland game is dreadful so far but I wouldn’t say no to Patrick Roberts..

no idea where he’d fit in like 🤣 feels good to be blessed with so many options

Them fuckers should have been fined a lot more than what they were for breaking FFP.

Slipped under the radar a bit over the years.
