It’s almost as if we were told a few days ago…

Had to go back about 4 pages to see what you meant had missed that  😂. I was going if the Wigan Twitter rumour . Well sounds like Evatt as gone a bit cold on him then anyway if him and Fulham want to much

Aye, it'll be a shame if we miss out on Fossey but not the end of the world. He'll go to a higher level on more wages, we'll find an alternative. Onwards and upwards

A month ago we were lead to believe it was as good as a done deal by a certain journalist.

He's a good player but injury prone. If we don't get him its no disaster. The fact we are fishing in the same pool as Championship clubs is a good sign.

I'm glad to read that there are three Championship clubs interested. One of them is bound to be Wigan given that their whole transfer strategy will (as usual) be geared around trying to peevishly get one over on Bolton. However pretty much every other club in the division is bigger than Wigan so he's more likely to choose the others.

Got to accept where we are and what we can afford. We get some good loans and put a player in the shop window, high probability we aren’t going to win them all.

As I mentioned previously it’s risk and reward. No concerns over injury and we’d of probably stretched the budget for him. Just seems a too big a risk across the whole package

Not looking good for Fossey coming back according to the Bolton news .
Oh well never mind is knee would of gone on us if we had got him back and been out for 12 months that’s usually the script

Can't be just wear one of those neoprene knee bandages like I've seen so many amateurs wearing? :D

@Dr. Feelgood for what it’s worth we chatted about a few things. Primarily the club, how he’s enjoying it, fact he’s buzzing the fans are proud again etc etc. his wife was too busy getting pissed on the row in front

did also cover off the main fucking cranks on that wanderers ways forum thingy. He put you right up there. So, congratulations. You’re finally relevant. Like the Fossey and Dapo stuff. Hence the posting

As I said, I'm truly impressed at your good fortune to be both sitting so close and that he should impart such information to you so freely. A shame it was too warly for comments about the Blackpool job.

Over 250 games for them & captaining them in the prem does count for something, along with them also being a league higher. You also know in Evatt's competitive mindset he'd believe he could go in & take them to the prem again quicker than he could with us. We're the bigger club, better stadium blah blah but with his relationship with Sharon, the project/vision the club has got along with him being backed with cash it would have to take some real nostalgia for him to end up there.

I've more chance of being next Blackpool Manager then Evatt going.

And I'm in Stangweways on a 4 stretch

Fair play mate.

Great effort, cheers for sharing.

While I’m a bit gutted it looks like Fossey isn’t coming back, the reasons are valid.

And as always trusting Evatt and his team to find better value for money with less risk is something I’m happy to leave in his capable hands.

Enjoy your hols!

We discussed quite a bit to be honest. Shared a couple of points as they were relevant to the ‘transfer gossip’ thread

not too surprising he was so open as I think we can agree he isn’t someone you would describe as a closed book

making up sitting with him on a flight ain’t the type of shite I’d serve up for no reason to gain kudos off some lads I know on here and criticism from a few nuggets I don’t. But carry on feeling good Dr

Fossey is class. Any Championship side with half decent scouts will have spotted him. Think we're brilliant with him in the side when he's fit. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Obviously not knocking fossey but let’s not forget we got something like 18 points out of 24 after his injury and finished the season very strong

we move on

It is a shame if Fossey goes elsewhere and all the best to him.  However there is no point breaking the bank for individuals and I’m sure IE has other alternatives.

I wonder who the ‘someone better lined up’ could be. They’d be some player. Also could we move Gethin Jones back and play Iredale at CB in his position?

Steve Thompson is 2nd on the appearances list since 1980 behind Jussi.
Ahead of Davies and well clear of Nolan who played the same number as Julian Darby.
Gardner & Phillips played more than Davies.

Thanks for the clarification, FWIW I think its a bigger achievement for an outfield player compared to a keeper because generally they are less likely to be injured or rotated/dropped and physical demands are less.

I don’t expect better than Fossey. It’ll be just spin, fwiw I wouldn’t rule Fossey out just yet.

Iredale is left footed as far as I'm aware so wouldn't be suitable on the right of a back three in my opinion.

I also think we need a specialist wing-back on the right hand side as well. If it were up to me, I'd be looking to sign two this summer.

Sorry I meant shunt them across one or Johnston on right.

Agree on that.

Yeah I don’t think it’s dead just yet.

I think the same applies to Johnston, to be fair. He's equally as left footed.

I'd keep Jones where he is or play him as a full-back if we ever change formation.

Negotiations take many forms. Plenty of bluff, double bluff and counter bluffing as well as feeding scraps to journos.

If anyone can persuade fossey to sign it’s evatt. Seems a bright lad so hopefully he can buy into the journey that team Ian/sharron are on.
