9 midfielders - Josh, Taylor, karacan, Buckley, Pratley, Postman, Sammy, Earing and Perry

3 forwards - Alf Madine and Armstrong

 

That gives us 23, which I think was last years limit - PP is trying to offload Amos, and I think Chris Taylor, which frees up 2 spaces for the West Ham lads - to bring anyone else in must put Earing and Parrys place in jeapourdy - unless Ken can work something with the league

A loan at best, we might have to contribute to wages but it would free up a space.

Shouldn't be a problem extending the loan in January then with no risk of Rafa saying he's lost all his players to Africa.

 

The worry I've got with the Amos situation is that ordinarily he'd take a certain percentage of the remainder of his contract as a pay off to cut his ties and we're rid of him. Not a chance we're finding a lump sum any time soon, nor does he seem likely to ask to be released and therefore waiving his right to a pay off.

Midfield looks like it needs something without Spearing in there.

I was referring to when Ameobi was recalled last year because Newcastle were short of players because of the ANC and whether we'd lose Armstrong in similar circumstances. I did suspect Armstrong wasn't from Mali.

This Armstrong lad might be that Clough type of player, if barnsley played him out wide thinking he's not an out and out striker

He was the he best striker in the league last season. Gave his all every week and was a proper tough nut all season
