Andydee
Just remembered, some cracking walking around wheelton area. And the top lock does some good, wholesome food, ideal if you've worked up a hunger. Top Lock's just got a new landlord and had a refurb, think the kitchen re-opens in a couple of weeks.
Mounts Kipper
Top Lock's just got a new landlord and had a refurb, think the kitchen re-opens in a couple of weeks. Currys wont be the same were brilliant with the old landlord.
leigh white
Some decent walks over Astley Moss to Irlam, just watch out for the crazy farm dogs.
Traf
Now i always thought Fredericks was the King of ice creams. McGuinness's farm on Scout Rd is decent too. Quite a bit further afield admittedly, but Wallings of Cockerham are the daddies of ice cream. Made on site, loads of flavours, massive portions etc
leigh white
Cant seem to get Tooty Fruity ice cream anywhere these days, and the days of a Pendleton twicer are well gone.
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 10, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted July 10, 2017 Currys wont be the same were brilliant with the old landlord.Very true; had some fine grub there. Hope the new guys keep if good. Quite a bit further afield admittedly, but Wallings of Cockerham are the daddies of ice cream. Made on site, loads of flavours, massive portions etc Seconded. I always have one of the flavours as vanilla- still the best. Did a walk around that area not too long ago and finished off there. Some great skies, and panoramic views. Love it. Happy Wanderer
Park at the Black Bull pub at Edgworth, walk around the Wayho and back to the pub for lunch. Spot on food last time I was there. Plenty of other walks and pubs further afield into deepest Lancashire if you want to venture.
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 10, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted July 10, 2017 Do all three reservoirs, ale/refreshments/ice cream as discussed, and finish off round entwistle at the duck.
Underpants
I do the one from the David Lloyd Centre, Chorley. Dark Ln park up. Follow the the Leeds/Liverpool canal up to the Top Lock pub. You might see Mount Kipper sat in the corner with a half of Mackys. Anyway, a plate of chips and a pint of Bluebird then a potter back; and maybe call in to Fredricks for a nobbly rum & raisin cone and a flake. What's not to like about any if that. About 25 min from Fredricks to the Spinners. Nice Sunday lunch there. Well worth the visit. The ice cream later back at Fredricks was good to. Big E
Didn't have a walk as was goosed from the Yorkshire 3 peaks but I enjoyed Sunday lunch at that pub next to blackrod station yesterday. Didn't seem too far from walkable countryside either.
