My point is that it’s no more undemocratic than are own U.K. system, when it comes to filling the big jobs anyway I can understand why the European Parliament would be complaining Then again I can understand why the European council (the member state governments), would want someone in with the right experience to do the job Edited July 17, 2019 by birch-chorley

She has "a perpetual whiff of scandal" about her and is deemed "incompetent" by her German peers through her disastrous handling of Germany's armed forces. So she has the "right experience" OK. A scandal ridden bungling incompetent seems like the perfect CV in the eyes of the faceless bureaucrats scooping up wealth and, from where I am sitting, she seems to be perfectly suited to a corrupt and failing institution. Once again I have great hopes for a Churchillian type performance. Instead of having a pop at one of our own you'd be better served firing shots at those corrupt shitbags over in Brussels. Wouldn't suit your sycophantic Europhile agenda though, would it? Edited July 17, 2019 by bolty58

Moderators Casino Posted July 17, 2019 Moderators Share Posted July 17, 2019 Either way, you cant sell to the EU without following their rules So stay in, stay out, come out, whatever, you will still need to follow their rules to ship your kippers in to the EU

Salford Trotter
Don't panic Mr Mainwaring 🤣 and to think folk reckon we're are prepared for No Deal In another interview for the programme, the EU Commission's First Vice-President, Frans Timmermans, said UK ministers were "running around like idiots" when they arrived to negotiate Brexit in 2017. Mr Timmermans said while he expected a "Harry Potter-like book of tricks" from ministers, instead they were like Lance Corporal Jones from Dad's Army. In an interview in March 2019 with the BBC's Nick Robinson, Mr Timmermans said he found it "shocking" how unprepared the UK team was when it began negotiations. "We thought they are so brilliant," he said. "That in some vault somewhere in Westminster there will be a Harry Potter-like book with all the tricks and all the things in it to do." But after seeing the then-Brexit Secretary David Davis - who resigned over his disagreements with the deal - speaking in public, his mind changed. "I saw him not coming, not negotiating, grandstanding elsewhere [and] I thought, 'Oh my God, they haven't got a plan, they haven't got a plan.' "That was really shocking, frankly, because the damage if you don't have a plan... "Time's running out and you don't have a plan. It's like Lance Corporal Jones, you know, 'Don't panic, don't panic!' Running around like idiots."

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 18, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted July 18, 2019 Thing is, they would say that, irrespective of whether it was true. Just gearing up for the next round. Fwiw, I reckon there's probably some truth in it: when you listen to brexit oriented MPs and ministers talk, it is clear TM went her own way and ignored advice. Bound to be a bit shambolic initially, if she's overriding those appointed to undertake the work.

I would say that Davis, Fox et al underestimated the task and the EU's resolve to protect their members interests, just like you would expect them to do when negotiating with other Trade Blocs on behalf of the UK. It demonstrates how ill prepared we were and now are to leave with No Deal and you wonder if this vision of FTAs coming out of ears in the future has been overestimated too. I see the OBR has said again that we will move straight into recession if we leave with No Deal, an additional 3% hit to GDP on top of the impact of a FTA.
